Kids and a Mom in the Kitchen #70: Fruit Salad

Time for Kids and a Mom in the Kitchen
(A weekly linky to share what you and your children have created in the kitchen.)

The linky is at the bottom.

This week our Kids and a Mom in the Kitchen time comes straight out of the My Father's World curriculum. We are learning about K: Kangaroo and fractions are introduced. While we have done fractions for ages, this seemed like a great idea for some hands on fraction work that didn't involve Hershey's Bars, so we made Katie Kangaroo's Fruit Salad. Each child got to make their own individual bowl.

Ingredients for 1 serving:

 1/2 apple, chopped
1/2 banana, sliced
1/2 cup mandarin oranges (without the syrup)
1/4 cup grapes

Tabitha and Amelia cut the bananas in half and we made sure everyone had a half to slice.

Thankfully, daddy was home to help Harold cut and measure.

Then we measured out 1/4 cup of grapes.

This is how Harold measured out his grapes. He just took a bunch and put it in the measuring cup.

Then we added in 1/2 cup of mandarin oranges and sliced the apples.

Harold's didn't really make it to being a fruit salad as he kept eating while he was making.

Stirring it all together.

Do you have your children help you in the kitchen?  What lessons do they learn? Do you have any kid friendly recipes to share?

I'd love to see your posts, whether you have done something this week or some time in the past. Just link up below. This is a weekly linky.
