Wordless Wednesday: April 17, 2019 (w/linky) - Happy 9th Birthday, Hannah!

Time sure does fly! I can't believe Hannah turned 9 years old last week.

Here are some pictures from the birthday celebrations.

I had some help this year making the birthday placemat.

Traditional breakfast. Pancakes (both in the shape of the age and mini ones, one for each year of life). Then the birthday child also gets some sort of fruit and sausage cut to the special number as well.

Coming down the stairs.

She decided to share her game time with her siblings.

Watching a show with lunch.

 You'd think a child with this look on her face was unable with perhaps the brussel sprouts on her plate.

However our birthday tradition is that the birthday child chooses the dinner, so those were her choice.

Present time

She loves Fingerlings and Shopkins.

Her sister knew how much she wanted the elephant Fingerling that she got it for her when we were at Walmart a couple of weeks ago.

Cake time.

Tabitha and Amelia made the cake while Hannah and I were at the Y that morning. They didn't notice the frosting on the counter, I guess, because they decided to decorate with food coloring.

Taking a break from the cake to allow daddy to see her opening her gifts from big sister Krystal who had finally arrived.

Yes, she loves elephants.

The big tradition for the number 9 birthday is the mommy and daddy take the birthday child out to dinner at a fancy restaurant. We couldn't go on her birthday because daddy had to work, so we took her on Saturday.

Go to a fancy restaurant, get a cheeseburger. Sounds about right. In fact, both her older sisters did the same thing.

Words of Wisdom Wednesday- Week 1

I mentioned last week that I was going to be starting Words of Wisdom Wednesday back up. This was a weekly meme that I had posted a couple of years ago. Here is what it is all about:

In Words of Wisdom Wednesday I post the answer to the question I posed to the girls this week.  I just want to get them thinking and I am intrigued by the way their minds work.  I invite you to ask the same question to your children and post their answer on your blog.  At the end of the post there will be a linky for you to join up with which will be open all week.  I just ask that you link back here in your post so others can hear about Words of Wisdom Wednesday.  In fact, you may grab my image (by right clicking on it) to add to your post. I have to make an updated one and I no longer have the button code. When I have it updated it will be on the sidebar. If you don't want to post about it, I would love for you to use the comment section to record their answers. 

I thought it would be neat to ask the girls some of the same questions I had asked them before. It has been over 2 years, so I thought it would be nice to compare their answers.

How do we get dressed?

Tabitha: First we take off our pajamas, then we put on our shirt, then skirt, then put on your underpants and then its done.

Amelia: We take the clothes and put them on. We take our underpants and put them on. We get socks on. We get our shoes on. Then we go downstairs and show mommy we are all dressed. The end.

Q is for Questions, Queries and Quotes

Have you ever taken the time to write down the funny, insightful or just plain cute quotes that your children come up with? I have. Unfortunately, I haven't been doing it as much lately. Usually, by the time I have something to write on or with I have forgotten what was said. Or, if I do get it written down, I lose the paper I wrote it on. This is actually quite upsetting to me, because I know how much I will forget as the children grow older. I hardly remember anything of what the older children said when they were younger. They are now 21, 20 and 16. I remember when these little ones were born I wanted to make sure to capture the memories. I had been doing a pretty good job, but lately, it just isn't happening. 

Up until a year ago I was participating in Tiny Talk Tuesday, recording and sharing the funny, insightful and cute things the girls would say. I was just so busy with an infant and three little girls, that it just fell to the wayside. I am thinking it is time to revive this tradition. I have gone a year without writing down these quotes, except for a few that I captured, but never shared. These are memories that have been lost and can never be retrieved. I would encourage you to write down what your children say, even if you don't share. These days go by so fast and it is so hard to remember these little things. 

Additionally, I used to host a weekly meme called Words of Wisdom Wednesday. It started out similar to Tiny Talk Tuesday, just recording what was said by the girls. When I discovered there was already a linky called Tiny Talk Tuesday, I decided to change my meme. In Words of Wisdom Wednesday I posted the answers to a question I posed to the girls each week.  I just wanted to get them thinking and I was intrigued by the way their minds work.  I invited others to ask the same question to their children and post their answer on their blog and then link up. It has been two years since I did this, and I thought it would be fun to revisit the questions and see how the children's answers will change. 

I had asked questions such as, "Why do you think we exercise?" and "Why do we sleep?"

Why do you think God made trees?

Here is Tabitha's answer:

Uh, because he needs to keep them alive.  Oh, I know how...why God made trees.  Because they give us fresh air to stay alive.  When the trees give fresh air it keeps us alive.  Trees also help us stay away from the cold.

Here is Amelia's answer:

Because trees get alive.


Then she wanted to ask a question
Why do we have books in the crib?
I answered "So you can read."
She then wanted me to write it down and she answered,
"Because I want to read."
