What have we been up to?
We have been keeping busy, trying to get caught up, like I mentioned last week. We have been busy with Melk too. I will again be sharing pictures of the fun we are having with him on this week's Wordless Wednesday, including pictures from our church's Christmas program this weekend.
One of the crafts Melk had us make was a Coffee Filter Angel. I helped him find a suitable project. Each year we have made some sort of angel with Melk, as it is part of the lesson of God caring for us. This year he wanted to do something a bit different. These turned out really cute. There are several ideas out there, and this was my favorite as it was simple and didn't have a lot of materials needed.
Coffee Filter Angels
All you need for each angel is:
3 coffee filters
1 pipe cleaner
2 cotton balls.
thread
and a hot glue gun for putting it together
plus some tape
First we put the cotton balls in the middle of one coffee filter and scrunched the filter around them. We secured it with a half of a pipe cleaner, crossing once and then forming loops to make it look like a bow. I added some hot glue to keep it from coming apart.
Then we took a second coffee filter and twisted the middle to a point so it could go up, inside the first one to form the gown.
We attached it by putting some hot glue inside the bottom of the head.
We then folded the last coffee filter in half and attached it to the back of the angel with the hot glue gun. Then we added the second half of the pipe cleaner to the back of the neck and twisted it into a halo. We finished by gluing on the thread so we could hang it up. It did need to be secured with some tape.
My angel is above the Advent Countdown Tree.
And the children's are hanging in our doorway.

The Crew year is over, and we won't be getting any new review products until January. However, I do still have a couple of single review products we are working on (these are the ones that I don't publish on my blog, instead they are posted on the Old Schoolhouse Magazine website). We are reading a book called Animals in Time Volume 1: Historical Empires and Civilizations. This also came with an Activity Book. And the children are working on an activity box from Cooper & Kid with their dad.
