Toddler Ideas Tuesday: December 9, 2014

Welcome back to Toddler Idea Tuesdays! I hope you will join with me again in sharing the fun activities, crafts, and lessons that you are doing with your young children.

Today I wanted to share our rainbow muffin tin that we made last week.

We were learning about rainbows as our science topic with My Father's World 1st grade. Additionally, one of the Bible stories we read was the story of Noah's Ark. I figured having the children make their own rainbows for this muffin tin would be a great sorting and fine motor activity for Harold and Hannah. Of course, the older girls had fun too.

We used Fruity Ringers cereal, large marshmallows, and pipe cleaners.

I gave the children their own bowl of cereal and had them sort them.

Harold did a pretty good job.

Once they were sorted, I had the children thread them onto a pipe cleaner which had one end pushed into one half of the marshmallow.

It was actually easier for me to just bend the end of the pipe cleaner for Harold.

The older girls placed the cereal on in the order of the colors of the rainbow. I allowed Hannah and Harold to put them on in whatever order they chose.

We left enough room at the end to push the pipe cleaner into the other marshmallow.

Unfortunately, the pipe cleaner wanted to keep popping out and straightening. I decided it would work better in the muffin tin, though they didn't stand up very well. The children loved them though.

In addition to the Fruity Ringer Rainbow, the children had:
Red grape tomatoes
Orange carrot sticks
Yellow pineapple
Green broccoli
Blue Jello
Purple yogurt
In the center of the muffin tin the had a Noah's Ark shaped peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

Muffin Tin Monday: Memorial Day 2013

AnotherLunch
Today, once again, I did not go with the theme which was Down On The Farm. As it is Memorial Day we had a patriotic muffin tin. I shared a few of my old patriotic tins in this post if you would like to see them.
Here is my newest patriotic muffin tin:
I have to share all three, because my older daughter was here and she made each sandwich decoration a bit different for them. Other than that, the meals are identical.

They had:
Red grape tomatoes
6 white cheddar cheese flag stripes
Blue Raspberry Soda
Strawberry star
Red, white and blue fruit
(banana and strawberry slice stripe pattern surrounded by blueberries)
Star cookie
Peanut butter and fluff sandwich with blue and red gel star decorations.

Here is Krystal's lunch:

And Harold got some cut up grape tomatoes, strawberries, pb and fluff sandwich, and bananas. He also got a cookie for dessert, I just didn't want it on the tin.

Our little guy was is the only one dressed in patriotic clothing, and I didn't even do that on purpose.

Don't forget to check out some other On the Farm Tins over at Another Lunch.

Muffin Tin Monday: St. Patrick's Day Rainbows

AnotherLunch
It has become a tradition in our house, to have a rainbow muffin tin for St. Patrick's Day. I had contemplated doing something different, until I realized how excited Tabitha was as she was awaiting her tin.

They had:
White clouds made up of Ranch dressing, cauliflower and shredded Mozzarella cheese
Pot of gold coins
Then, starting at the bottom left corner we work our way through the colors of the rainbow.
Red Grape Tomatoes and Red Pepper
Orange Mini Carrots, Apricots and Pepper
Yellow Corn, Scrambled Eggs and Pepper
Green Romaine Lettuce, Snap Peas and Pepper
Blueberries and Purple Grapes

As we only have 2 12 compartment tins, I had to give Hannah her meal in two tins placed side by side.

Harold got the mini tin I used for Hannah last year.

He had:
White shredded mozzarella clouds
1 gold coin
Red (sort of) BBQ Vienna sausages
Orange goldfish
Yellow scrambled eggs
Green Beans
Blueberries

The girls loved getting the gold coins again.

Of course they did, it is chocolate after all.

The girls also colored rainbows as a conclusion to our weeks of color projects.

And they added a shamrock.

Oh, mommy had a rainbow lunch too.

Isn't this a colorful salad? Yummy.
