Muffin Tin Moments: Rain and Storms

 We just finished two weeks of weather related My Father's World science units, which has been fitting in very nicely with our study of the book Tornado and the unit on weather that we are reviewing from Moving Beyond the Page (this is a Schoolhouse Review Crew product and I will be sharing the review next week).

When we were doing our Rain unit I came up with this muffin tin:

Marshmallow clouds

Raindrop shaped Tuna Fish sandwiches

Raindrop shaped cheese

Grapes and Broccoli (things that need water to grow)

and a Ranch Dressing Puddle

When we did our Thunder and Lightning (or storm) unit last week, I was a bit unsure what to do. The hubby made a suggestion and I went with it. 

Here is our tornado muffin tin:

We had marshmallow clouds again (I know, so original.)

Then, all the other food was mixed together because a tornado touched down and mixed them all up. Carrot sticks, veggie trees, raisins, and triangle sandwiches (I got to use my new FunBites cutter that I will be featuring very soon in my Back to School/5 Year Blogiversary Celebration).

Muffin Tin Moments: The Four Seasons

 We are on Week 7 in My Father's World 1st grade. Our science topic is seasons, so I decided to make a muffin tin that focuses on all the seasons.

The Four Seasons Muffin Tin

Winter- Snowman Cheese Cut-out

Marshmallow snow

Spring- Broccoli Trees

Summer- Blue Jello Sea

Crushed Graham Cracker Sand

Starfish Apple Cut-Outs

Fall/Autumn- Pumpkin shaped Nutella sandwich

Peppers cut into the shape of leaves

Reese's Pieces (for more fall colors)

Pineapple Slice Sun 

because the sun is responsible for all our seasons and it is there for all seasons.

Muffin Tin Moments: The Bee Tree

This week our memory verse is Proverbs 16:24, "Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones." We are also learning about trees with our science lessons this week. So, we read The Bee Tree by Patricia Polacco and I decided to make a muffin tin based on this book.

Captain Crunch (it was supposed to be HoneyComb, but we didn't have any)

Muffin Tin Moments: The Number 11

Today our number of the day was 11. As I didn't have any other ideas for our muffin tin lunch, I decided to make the children a muffin tin focused on the number 11. Typical me, I remembered as I was getting ready to post this, the challenge for this week was, Breakfast. Oops. 

Here is our Number 11 Muffin Tin.

11 pieces of hot dog

11 carrot slices

11 pieces of popcorn

11 chocolate chips

The number 11 on crackers.

For the older girls' benefit I put 4 in one compartment and 7 in the other. I asked them how many were in the one if there were 4 in the other. 

I did the same thing with the carrots, only I did 5 and 6.

Muffin Tin Moments: Q is for Quail

I wasn't sure what I wanted to do for a Q muffin tin this week. Today we made Quail Eggs for our Kids and a Mom in the Kitchen and I had a brain storm. I decided to build a muffin tin around them. Here is what I came up with. 

Quail Eggs in a bread nest

Rice to represent the grain quail eat

Fruity Trix cereal to represent berries they eat

Grapes to represent fruit or because they look like quail eggs (take your pick)

Q shaped cheese

Spinach to represent the plants they may eat

Yes, Harold now has a round tin like his sisters. I found two more at the back of my cupboard that I must have purchased a while ago.

Muffin Tin Monday: St. Patrick's Day Rainbows

I am so excited to finally be able to link up my Muffin Tin Monday posts again. I was just invited over to Whispered Abundance's Muffin Tin Moments and I can't wait to check out other's muffin tins again! Today we have a St. Patrick's Day Rainbow Muffin Tin. We just started our V:Vegetable Unit and I decided to combine produce with rainbows in our lesson time and with our lunch. Later today we are making Rainbow Vegetable Pizzas.
