Workbox Wednesday- April 29, 2015

Welcome to Workbox Wednesday!

So, I have been discovering that using workboxes does take quite the bit of organization. I am supposed to be working on being diligent this year, and one of the things I wanted to work on was being diligent in organizing school work. Unfortunately, even though we have been getting work done, I usually print their work out right before giving it to them. So, the work mentioned below, would be in a workbox if I was more organized.

The girls have been completing worksheets with our new Bible Study from Real Life Press called Firmly Planted: Books of Moses Part 2. I will be sharing more about it next week in my review. Our studies have been focusing on the latter part of Genesis, and we have now moved on to Exodus. Here is a sneak peak at some of the worksheets:

The younger children have also had a worksheet each week with our La La Logic preschool curriculum review. I will be posting that review within the next two days.

I shared some Free Printables on my Poppin's Book Nook post earlier this week. Here is a look at what you can stop by and download.

If you use workboxes, tot trays, or anything similar, feel free to post a link to your blog post or a picture (pictures can be from facebook, but please make sure they are PUBLIC so we can see them, or use a host like photobucket.com to get a URL for your photo) that shows WHAT IS IN YOUR BOXES!

Workbox Wednesday- April 1, 2015

Welcome to Workbox Wednesday!

We have started another review product that will contribute to the girls' workboxes. Thanks to the Schoolhouse Review Crew, we have a new Bible Study from Real Life Press called Firmly Planted: The Books of Moses Part Two: God Guides His Family and Gives Them His Rules. We are going to be digging deeper into the stories in Genesis that we recently skimmed through with My Father's World. During our morning  Bible Time we will be reading the study guide, and then the children will have worksheets in their workboxes. Here is a sneak peak.

The review for Real Life Press will be posting early in May.

Welcome to Workbox Wednesday!

Though we haven't had anything different in the Workboxes again this week, we are going to be adding in some enrichment exercises from a new review item, LaLaLogic. Though this is meant for children 3-6, I am going to be having the older children do some of the activities. I will also be sharing some of the extra sheets the younger two will be working on in the coming weeks. So, stay tuned.

Workbox Wednesday- March 4, 2015

Welcome to Workbox Wednesday!

This week the girls' workboxes were about the same as last week. However, the girls had asked to use their Learning Wrap-Ups instead of the Learning Palette.

You can read more about the Learning Palettes and Learning Wrap-Ups by reading my review.

Workbox Wednesday- February 25, 2015

Welcome to Workbox Wednesday!

Before we took a week and a half off of school, we celebrated our 100th day of school.  We had a great time, and even went out to see Disney on Ice as part of our celebration. The time off of school was nice, but I have to say, it was nice to get back into a routine. In fact, I have changed our schedule and our routine is working so much better. The children are getting 3 of their workboxes done before lunch, leaving only their Bible Story and Notebook workbox to do after lunch.

I do have to confess, I forgot about that fact that because we were done with our number of the day, I hadn't even thought about what they were going to do in place of their number of the day/hundred chart workbox. Then I remembered the Learning Palettes we reviewed last year. Amelia had been asking to use them, so I decided they could have that as some hands-on learning, which had to go to the wayside when we added the Bible Notebook.

In case you have never heard of Learning Palettes before, they are put out by Learning Wrap-Ups. There is a base, cards, and discs that are used to find the correct answer. Once a child has answered all the questions, he or she can flip the card over to see if they were right.

You can read more about the Learning Palettes and Learning Wrap-Ups by reading my review.

Workbox Wednesday- February 4, 2015

Welcome to Workbox Wednesday!

This week I would like to share an old post. Several years ago, we were using a lot more learning trays in our school time. One time, I put together some Montessori type activities that focused on Valentine's Day. Here is a peek at my Montessori: Valentines post.

I invite you to follow the link above to see the details.

Workbox Wednesday- January 28, 2015

Welcome to Workbox Wednesday!

We didn't really have anything new in our workboxes this week.  The girls do have some new copywork that goes with the Sound Words for Kids curriculum that we are reviewing. And they are now having to write summaries instead of just titles for the Bible Notebook work. However, those are the only changes. How about you?

Workbox Wednesday- December 17, 2014

Welcome to Workbox Wednesday!

Last week, Melk the Christmas Monkey shared a couple of different lessons that involved Gingerbread Men/Boys. We were supposed to make life-size gingerbread people but didn't have big paper, so we made little ones to help decorate. We were supposed to make cookies, but the snow was more inviting. Every day since then we just haven't found the time. I finally decided we are going to wait until Saturday to make them, so we can take them to our church's Christmas program.

Though we didn't make the cookies, I did find some fun activities for the children. Embark on the Journey has a FREE printable pack suitable for pre-K through 1st grade all about gingerbread men.

There are puzzles.

Hannah worked on the tracing page.

The older girls enjoyed the Story Sequencing Cards.

Harold has been learning to count one-to-one, so I thought he would enjoy this counting activity.

There were quite a few more activities, though we haven't done them all and I didn't get pictures of all the ones we did do. There are coloring sheets with traceable dotted words, a graphing game, number mazes, a roll and stamp game, count and clip cards and more.

You can find details in my Toddler Idea Tuesday post.

Workbox Wednesday- December 3, 2014

Welcome to Workbox Wednesday!

We took last week off of school to get ready for Thanksgiving. You know, it is hard getting back in the swing of things after a week long break. Anyhow, the girls have a couple of new papers in their workboxes this month. They are working on some Advent copywork, using the Celebrate Jesus: Light of the World book from Amy Blevins of Homeschool Encouragement. This is a book we reviewed last year. You can check out my review here.

They are also completing a journal page from Melk the Christmas Monkey. They will write down the character of God that we learn each day in our lessons.
