Five on Friday (Oops I Mean Saturday): May 31st, 2014

The Pebble Pond

There are funny things or cute things that will happen during the week that I would like to share, but they don't really make a post on their own. So, this is the perfect opportunity to share them.

1.The children found their first toad of the year. They were quite upset when mommy wouldn't let them keep it.

2. On Memorial Day we had a school-as-usual day, but the children wanted a picnic lunch. They took their muffin tins to the blanket, next to the water (blue blanket) and the grass (green blanket).

3. We continue to enjoy time over at the park. The other day Harold was having a blast "blowing dandelion fuzz." Or just shaking it.

In the next picture, he is "hugging" the dandelion. He will put his cheek down to pictures or put objects to his cheek that he loves.

4. The children love building castles.

and houses with different rooms for their cars or dolls, or in this case, ponies.

5. We received a new review item the other day. Fun, fun, fun!

1. Harold decided to show us how strong he thinks he is this past week. These are not real weights; they are accessories that hold the Wii controllers when doing exercises on the Wii Fit games. Though they are not real weights, they aren't the lightest things either. I just thought this was so cute.

2. We went to visit Uncle John and the cousins last week and Harold was having a blast trying to catch and pet the dog. He kept trying to give the dog the toy pig. Instead of throwing it so the dog could go fetch, he would keep chasing the dog to try to give her the toy. Then he just started carrying the silly pig around with him.

3. While we were having our gathering time on Monday, Tabitha decided to start writing the date in her little notebook she was given as a type of journal when she went to camp last year. I thought it was so sweet. And of course, Amelia decided to copy her sister, though she chose to write it out on a piece of computer paper.

4. After we came back from shopping the other day, Harold decided to make himself all sorts of comfy in one of the cardboard boxes. I actually posted one of these pictures on Facebook, stating " Went shopping today, look what we found. Decided to keep him."

5. We had one very upset boy the other day!

Seems he didn't like being told he couldn't play with the Learning Palettes we are reviewing. Poor kiddo.

There are funny things or cute things that will happen during the week that I would like to share, but they don't really make a post on their own. So, this is the perfect opportunity to share them.

1. The children have been enjoying being able to go to the park more lately, though it was too rainy the latter part of the week.

2. On Monday, grandma and grandpa came down to babysit so the hubby and I could go on a "date," the first time we had gotten out together since November. We love the curtain in the movie theater.

3. It seems while we were gone, while the girls were watching their movie, grandma read Harold a huge pile of books. I didn't realize he would sit that nicely for so many books. Maybe she reads better than me?  Yes she was still reading when we got home and they stayed a while longer because he kept asked for more books to be read.

4. The girls have now seen Frozen 3 times. After seeing it once they kept singing "let it go, let it go, let it go" over and over again because the didn't really know the words. Before watching it the third time today they were acting out their favorite scenes from the movie with almost perfect dialogue.

5. Last night we got to go see the new Veggie Tales movie Veggies in Space: The Fennel Frontier at our church with the Venture Club crew. The hubby and I enjoyed it very much. It was fun picking out the references to Star Trek and Star Wars. There was even a reference to Dr. Who, not that I have ever watched that one. I said that Veggie Tales appeal to the parents as well as the children because those references usually go right over the children's heads.

The Pebble Pond

Oops, missed a couple of weeks. Trying to get back on schedule.

There are funny things or cute things that will happen during the week that I would like to share, but they don't really make a post on their own. So, this is the perfect opportunity to share them.

1. We have officially finished our My Father's World Kindergarten Curriculum and have started 1st grade work. I packed the K materials away to await being used by Hannah and Harold in a year and a half.

2. Wednesday was also our last co-op meeting for this school year. We helped out at the camp where we meet, cleaning leaves, weeds and pinecones to make the camp look nice.

 3. The last day of co-op is also memorable because we have a potluck lunch. While we were waiting for the food to be ready, hubby was taking some kids on a ride on the chair carrier.

4. For some reason the hubby thought I needed a foil hat that day. Of course, he insisted on taking pictures.

5. The children are still having a blast going to story hour every week. Today they made coffee filter/pipe cleaner butterflies.
