School Time: Our Week of Apples

Last week we started rowing How to Make an Apple Pie and See the World by Marjorie Priceman.  We are actually still going to continue through next week, but I wanted to share all the fun apple activities we did this week. Next week I will share our completed work.

We started out by cutting and painting covers to an apple book.

One day I let the girls color an apple tree while I read the book.

Then we picked apples off our "tree" and put them in the basket. We picked 8 just like the girl in the story.

Then we fed one to the chicken (okay, duck) and the cow (horse)

and one for the baker

We actually then gave one to Amelia and Hannah too and realized we wouldn't have enough for the pie. So we put them back. (We didn't really make a pie. The baker needed five apples in the book. I cut them up for something else, see below)

Did you know waffles are really good with peanut butter and apple slices. Couldn't forget the milk.

I also found a recipe for Crock Pot Apple Sauce:

Yummy!!

I gave Hannah a chance to point to our calender while we sang the days of the week.

We have a lot more to do, so I will be sharing more later.
