Scavenger Hunt Sunday: February 5, 2012

Scavenger Hunt Sunday items: Strike a Pose, Footwear, Hobby, Shiny and Color Me Green

Strike a Pose

37 Weeks Pregnant

Footwear

Pulled this one from the archives (I don't usually do this), but I love this shot from Christmas morning where they are showing off their new Dora slippers.

Hobby

Hubby used to be a big comic book collector. This is his box of comic books.

Shiny

Color Me Green

Well, there is actually a lot of green around where there shouldn't be for the beginning of February. But I spotted this tree, nice and green between the bare branches of the other trees. However, it doesn't show up near as good, so I thought I would pretend to color them green:

Lovin' The Weekend Blog Hops Week 18- Feb 3- Feb 5, 2012

Welcome to the eighteenth weekend of Lovin' the Weekend Blog Hops.
Giveaway Linky is the bottom linky!

Here's how this blog hop works. I would appreciate it if you would follow me via GFC. And then, there are three different linkys you can link to. Whichever one you choose to link to, please grab that button and share it on your blog (the codes are on my sidebar). I'd love it if you could tweet or in some other way share about this blog hop, the more people who know about it, the more potential visitors and new followers of your blog. I'd love to meet some new friends this weekend.
I have noticed that some people are more interested in just increasing their numbers, while others really want people who appreciate their blog and want to keep up with their posts. So, I decided to create two separate linkys. The third linky is for you to link up your giveaways.

If you are interested in increasing the number of followers to your blog via GFC, Twitter, Facebook or Google+ link up here (just note which one you are linking to):

Tots and Me

If you are interested in gaining followers to your blog who will read and comment and truly find an interest in your blog, link up here:

If you have family friendly giveaways to link up, here's your spot. Please make sure to include an end date for your giveaway.

Speaking of giveaways, check out my review and giveaway for Goosie Cards. You can win a Set of 10 Signature Collection Cards. Ends Feb 25th.

Goosie Cards: Review and Giveaway

Goosie Cards - Personalized Flash Cards, Custom Flash Cards, Educational Photo Products

I was given the great opportunity to review Goosie Cards.
Here is some information about Goosie Cards:
"Goosie Cards are personalized flashcards that you create with your personal photos and text to teach your child about the world around them. Goosiecards.com turns your personal photos into flashcards so you can teach your child about the faces and places they know best…because they are all about you and your family. You can create personalized flashcards to teach, play or to help with special needs.
And it’s fun and easy to make with the easy-to-use 'creativity shop'"

These personalized flashcards have so many possibilities, it was hard for me to narrow down what subject I wanted to focus on.  You have got to check out the Goosie Cards site for all the great tips and ideas they have.
As I was able to create a set of 10, I decided to focus on numbers. I wanted to add a little more though. I have been wanting to teach the girls more Spanish, so I added Spanish to the cards as well. Thus a little bit for all the girls. Tabitha and Amelia already know their numbers, so the number part of the flashcard is mainly for Hannah. But I included the older girls by adding the Spanish number.
Here is a picture of one of the cards I created

It is so simple to make your own set of flash cards. All you need to do is take pictures of the items you want to feature, or use pictures that are already on your computer. They also have photos in their gallery, if you choose not to take you own pictures. Then you upload them to the Walgreens Photo Center to use their creativity shop. You add up to five lines of text and a one line title for your collection. With the Signature Collection you can choose your border from different colors and styles and you can select to have them hole punched.
The quality of these cards is wonderful . They are laminated heavy card stock (if you get the Signature Collection. The Everyday Collection isn't quite as thick, but it still comes laminated. They are the perfect size, 4 1/4 in by 7 1/2 in. I love the fact that with the lamination you can trace on the cards with a dry erase marker. This was one of the tips I found on the Goosie Cards site. Also, if you purchase a second set you can use them as memory matching cards. Isn't that a neat idea.
Hannah loves playing with her cards.

Counting is something that we do all the time and she tries counting with me. I love that she is seeing familiar sites and objects on these cards (including herself). I think it makes it so much more meaningful.

The one thing I wish I could change a bit is their is a limit to the number of letters on each line. I was unaware of this before I got on the Walgreens Photo Center site. So, I sort of had some ideas of what I was going to have printed on the cards that wouldn't fit. I wish we could change the size of the font so we could fit more symbols per line. It probably wouldn't have bothered me as much if I had known before hand and hadn't had specific word combinations in mind. But, I made it work and we love the cards the way they came out.

You can purchase a set of 10 Everyday Collection Cards for $19.99 or a set of 10 Signature Collection Cards for $27.99.

And Goosie Cards has generously allowed me to offer a giveaway for a set of 10 of their Signature Collection Cards. Enter on the Rafflecopter Form below.

Giveaway Opportunity at Green Mam-a Jam-a: Woombie Mox Mittens

http://green-mama-jama.blogspot.com/

MooMoo's 3rd Birthday Bash is heading toward it's ending. You still have a chance to head on over to enter a couple of these giveaways.

Another great product that is being featured is Mox Mittens from Woombie

I knew Woombie made Swaddles (in fact I will be having the chance to review one for my Baby Shower Celebration Event, so stay tuned). But I was surprised to see that they have some other great baby and toddler products. Mox mittens are long mittens for baby's or toddler's hands that go up their arms just like socks. I just have to decide if I want the infant size for the baby, or the toddler size for Hannah for wearing out in the snow (umm if we ever get any).

Giveaway ends tonight at 11:59. Head over to Green Mam-a Jam-a to check it out.
