Kids and a Mom in the Kitchen: Parfaits and Patterns

Originally I had planned on making Chocolate Mousse Oreo Parfaits for our Kids and  a Mom in the Kitchen this week. Then I came across the post on Facebook where I learned that the other day was National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day, so we made those. But I still wanted to make the parfaits because I thought they fit in very well with "patterns." As the mousse recipe was new to me and had a lot of steps, I opted to make Chocolate Pudding Oreo Parfaits.  We started by crushing the Oreo cookies. I gave us each 3 cookies in a zippy bag.

Then we placed a TBS (which is two 1/2 TBS don't you know) of Oreo crumbs in the bottom of each plastic cup.

Then we made the instant chocolate pudding according to package directions, with one teeny addition. I always add peanut butter to my chocolate pudding. About 3 heaping (and I mean heaping) TBS of smooth peanut butter.

We then let it set in the fridge while I cooked and we ate dinner.
After a while we decided we needed dessert. I took the girls one by one to make their parfaits. They placed a couple of heaping TBS of pudding on top of the cookie crumbs. Then they added a TBS of  Cool Whip. We then repeated all the ingredients, making a pattern.

We had started these while Hannah was napping. Of course she wanted to help make her own now that she was up.

Do you have your children help you in the kitchen?  What lessons do they learn? Do you have any kid friendly recipes to share?
I'd love to see your posts, whether you have done something this week or some time in the past. Just link up below. This is a weekly linky.
