Muffin Tin Meal: Panda Bears

It's been a while since I posted a Muffin Tin Meal post. That would be because we haven't had any recently, for various reasons. Today, I woke up thinking it would be fun to make a special lunch to go with our Panda Bear unit. Of course, it turned into a muffin tin lunch. Hubby did a great job finding items to put in the tin. We focused on Pandas and Chinese food.

I made the panda bear head by cutting off the bottom corners of a slice of bread. Then I added Fluff for the white face. Nutella was placed in the top corners for ears (no Fluff there) and on top in the shape of eyes and a nose.

In the other compartments there are:

Black raisins

White Marshmallows

Salad to represent the bamboo they eat

White rice

Orange Chicken (hubby found some in the freezer section of the store)

Unfortunately, they didn't really care for the chicken, which is a shame because it is one of my favorites from the Chinese restaurant.

Muffin Tin Monday: Madeline/France

Well, I guess there is no where for me to link up my muffin tin meals again. That doesn't mean I am going to stop making them though, the children wouldn't let me if I wanted to. And if I am going to make them, I am going to share them. I hope you don't mind.

This week we are reading the book Madeline by Ludwig Bemelmans with the curriculum we are reviewing called Lightning Literature and Composition Grade 1, from Hewitt Homeschooling. I am also using the book Picture Book Activities by Trish Kuffner to include the younger children in the fun. So, today's muffin tin had a Madeline/France theme and I also got to use my Triangle Fun Bites cutter that I will be reviewing shortly as a part of my Back to School/5 Year Blogiversary Giveaway.

The top 3 compartments represent the French flag:

Blue-Blueberries

White-Cheese Triangles put together in the shape of a square

Red-Strawberries

Then there is a hat like the one Madeline wears made out of a dessert shell filled with vanilla yogurt, topped with half a peach and tied with a piece of a peel-able Twizzler.

The flower represents the flowers the girls bring Madeline when she is in the hospital. It is made of cheese cut with the FunBites cutter, a grape center and a green pepper stem.

Lastly, the children had a crescent roll (croissant).

I remember rowing Madeline when we were doing Five in a Row a few years ago. Though we aren't using FIAR right now, we are focusing on a book a week during the summer. It's been fun so far.

Muffin Tin Moments: The Four Seasons

 We are on Week 7 in My Father's World 1st grade. Our science topic is seasons, so I decided to make a muffin tin that focuses on all the seasons.

because the sun is responsible for all our seasons and it is there for all seasons.

Muffin Tin Moments: The Bee Tree

This week our memory verse is Proverbs 16:24, "Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones." We are also learning about trees with our science lessons this week. So, we read The Bee Tree by Patricia Polacco and I decided to make a muffin tin based on this book.

Muffin Tin Moments: The Number 11

Today our number of the day was 11. As I didn't have any other ideas for our muffin tin lunch, I decided to make the children a muffin tin focused on the number 11. Typical me, I remembered as I was getting ready to post this, the challenge for this week was, Breakfast. Oops. 

Here is our Number 11 Muffin Tin.

11 pieces of hot dog

11 carrot slices

11 pieces of popcorn

11 chocolate chips

The number 11 on crackers.

For the older girls' benefit I put 4 in one compartment and 7 in the other. I asked them how many were in the one if there were 4 in the other. 

I did the same thing with the carrots, only I did 5 and 6.

Muffin Tin Moments: A compilation of 3 weeks of muffin tins!

I didn't realize it has been a month since I posted about our muffin tins. Granted, we didn't have them every week, but the times we did I didn't get them posted. So, I thought I would share the muffin tins we had this week plus the last two weeks.

Two weeks ago I made the girls a Planes, Trains and Automobiles muffin tin. I did post a picture of it in our Poppins Book Nook post, but here is a closer look.

Last Monday, our number of the day was 4. I couldn't think of anything to do for Gecko, so I went with a simple 4 muffin tin.

8 pretzel sticks

4 pieces of cauliflower

4 slices of peaches

4 shaped cheese

Ranch Dressing

Tabitha gave me the idea to make hot chocolate with 4 mini marshmallows in it.

Muffin Tin Moments: Q is for Quail

I wasn't sure what I wanted to do for a Q muffin tin this week. Today we made Quail Eggs for our Kids and a Mom in the Kitchen and I had a brain storm. I decided to build a muffin tin around them. Here is what I came up with.

Rice to represent the grain quail eat

Fruity Trix cereal to represent berries they eat

Grapes to represent fruit or because they look like quail eggs (take your pick)

Q shaped cheese

Spinach to represent the plants they may eat

Yes, Harold now has a round tin like his sisters. I found two more at the back of my cupboard that I must have purchased a while ago.

Muffin Tin Monday: St. Patrick's Day Rainbows

I am so excited to finally be able to link up my Muffin Tin Monday posts again. I was just invited over to Whispered Abundance's Muffin Tin Moments and I can't wait to check out other's muffin tins again! Today we have a St. Patrick's Day Rainbow Muffin Tin. We just started our V:Vegetable Unit and I decided to combine produce with rainbows in our lesson time and with our lunch. Later today we are making Rainbow Vegetable Pizzas. 

They had:
