Summer Fun Week of June 25th 2012

This week was very busy. We had our second week of Summer Reading Program in town. The girls got to go to Vacation Bible School across the street from the church where we go to playgroup. And, it was the first week of Summer Reading Program where we go to Story time.
Daddy actually took the girls Tues and Wednesday to VBS, then I took them Thurs and Fri. Amelia had a little trouble remembering and reciting the verses, but she improved by the end of the week. Here are some pictures from there recreation time. Baby Harold and I had taken a walk yesterday and they were outside when we came back.

Don't worry, she was "tagged" by the ball and had to wait to get unfrozen.

Then today I took a walk with Baby Harold and Hannah. Hannah had to walk because our double stroller that would fit the car seat will not fold up to be put in the trunk. It took a while to get around town, but we had fun. When we got to the little playground I couldn't just walk on by. Hannah saw the slides and said, "slide" so slide she did. Fortunately, Harold was asleep.

Today was the last day and they had a closing program and a picnic. Unfortunately I forgot to take pictures.

As I mentioned, we are also involved with 2 summer reading programs this year. Like last year we get to go to the one and they spin the wheel to find out how many books they need to take out and then they spin for a small prize (yay, more clutter). Then we go to the summer reading program in town where we take our Reading Logs in which we recorded how long we read during the week. This is where the books from the other program come in handy. Each hour of reading gets the girls a dollar (fake, of course). They then save it up until they have enough to buy something from the Program Store. I think the lowest priced item was $7. We also count the time Tabitha reads to me or her sisters.
This library's program is on Thursday and there is a craft involved and a book read, plus snack of course. Here are some pictures of the girls making there Fireflies this week.

And they are having Bear Camp this week. The children were to bring a stuffed animal friend to the library. The animals got little name tags and get to stay the week. When we pick them up next week we will also get pictures of what the animals did all week. The assistant librarian came up with the idea. I think it is so cute. Unfortunately Tabitha had some separation anxiety. However, I will say I haven't heard her say anything about missing April Bear since Thursday.

Hear are April and Orange getting ready to go:

Oops they need to be safe:

Getting out at "camp."

Story time:

(see, they have their finished fireflies.)

Summer Celebration Event- Voda Swimsuit

Here is the latest giveaway in the Summer Celebration Event.
A Little Bit of Everything and Voda Swim have teamed up for our next Great Prize.

It is summer.  We all know that means swimsuits and beaches.  So what better way then to get a new bikini.

Voda swimsuit has the ENVY push up tops.  I LOVE them.  As you can see it helps to make everything look better on the top.  And what woman doesn't like that.

The material does not take on water.  This allows you to wear the suit when swimming and when you come out of the water, doesn't leave everything all saggy looking.  You can go swimming, sunbathing, and of course play on the beach as well.  The push up top will allow you to do all of these things, and keep it's shape and you looking good.

Cook'n Recipe Organizer Software Giveaway

Here is another great giveaway I am pleased to be able to share with you!
Review by Debbie Jean at http://www.debbie-jean.com

"I was given a copy of the Cook'n Recipe Software to review and giveaway.

Being a family cook, I basically stick to my family's favorites and on't wander too far from those recipes, only trying something new once in a while and when our budget permits!

So I was happy to get the Cook'n software to try out ! Cook'n is basically a custom cookbook you c an fill with all your finds and favorites

.

The first thing I did of course was add my family's favorites to it: Swedish meatballs, crock pot chilli, oriental stir fry, our favorite homemade bread, and more of our staple meals. I loved this feature because you simply choose a category such as appetizers, main dishes, etc, enter your ingredients, quantities, and directions into their simple spreadsheet, and it automatically adds it to your 'recipes', making it look like a nice recipe card! And it makes your favorites easy to find by categprizing it in the left sidebar of the software, so there's no spending time searching!

The next feature I tried was their 'capture tool', and this HAS to be my favorite thing ever!! This allows you to take any recipe you find online, capture the screen by using their online recipe search - pulling recipes for your search from all over the web! Once you click the capture button, Cook'n automatically sorts the recipe for you to add to your cookbook - making an ingredients list, directions, and quantities - no writing or messing around trying to find printed out recipes!

The next best thing would be the 'menu' option, allowing you to plan your week ahead with recipes from your book, automatically making you a simple shopping list, and allowing you to be prepared for dinner!

There is also the shopping list option, allowing you to quickly make a shopping list from your recipes, and whatever else you might need that week. This also allows you to set what the best buy for each product is, and all the nutritional information as well is included!

All in all, whether you are a home cook, or an all out professional chef, I'd highly recommend the Cook'n software for organization, budgeting, and having fun with your cooking!"

I don't know about you, but this Software sounds great.
As a part of this review Debbie Jean's readers (and Tot's and Me's readers as well seeing as I joined in) have been offered a 50% discount.

Simply use the code mb-rosescoupon on http://www.dvo.com/ and pay only half of what everyone else is paying for this great organizer!

One lucky reader will also receive a copy of the Cook'n software by entering the giveaway below!

This giveaway runs from June 29th 2012, and runs until July 10th 2012.

The winner will be contacted via e-mail, and must respond within 48 hours or the prize will be given to a second participant. Open worldwide.

Good Luck!!

Lovin' The Weekend Blog Hops Week 39: June 29- July 1, 2012

Welcome to the thirty-ninth weekend of Lovin' the Weekend Blog Hops.

Giveaway Linky is the bottom linky!

First things first:
Don't forget to check out my co-host's blog
Adventures of the Mommy Homemaker

In case you didn't know, I have also started randomly choosing a Featured host each week from the Lovin' The Readers linky. This week I unfortunately forgot to draw a name until last night, so there is no Featured Host this week. But there will be one next week, so don't forget to link up. Please comment with a way to contact you, especially if there is not an obvious way mentioned on your blog. I would love to include a little write up about you and your blog in the next week's Lovin' The Weekend Blog Hop post, including a link to your blog. And you will get to include the linky codes on your blog. Sound fun? I'm looking forward to getting to know my readers better.

Here's how this blog hop works. I would appreciate it if you would follow myself and  my co-host via GFC. If you no longer have GFC please follow me some other way. After that there are three different linkys you can link to. Whichever one you choose to link to, please grab that button and share it on your blog (the codes are on my sidebar). I'd love it if you could tweet or in some other way share about this blog hop, the more people who know about it, the more potential visitors and new followers of your blog. I'd love to meet some new friends this weekend.
I have noticed that some people are more interested in just increasing their numbers, while others really want people who appreciate their blog and want to keep up with their posts. So, I decided to create two separate linkys. The third linky is for you to link up your giveaways.

If you are interested in increasing the number of followers to your blog via GFC, Linky Followers, email, Twitter, Facebook or Google+ link up here. I will follow you back if you follow me (just note which one you are linking to):

Tots and Me

If you are interested in gaining followers to your blog who will read and comment and truly find an interest in your blog, link up here:

Summer Celebration Event- Potty Cover

Time for another great giveaway in the Summer Celebration Event.
Review and giveaway are from A Little Bit of Everything:
A Little bit of Everything and Potty Cover brings up the next giveaway.

"If you enjoy going out with your little ones, than these are for you.  We enjoy going out.   I always try and get them to go before we leave the house.  But of course we know how kids are.  And sometimes they just can't hold it in.  When you have to use the toilet outside of the house, this is a great solution.

Now most bathrooms do offer the covers.  And they are nice as an adult.  But what about a child.  They can not reach the floor, and of course the need to hold onto the seat sometimes.  These covers allow the entire seat to be covered.  .  They cover the entire seat and drop down on the sides and the front.

They are not reusable.  They are one time use.  I would like to see a reusable product.  But for the once or twice a month we use them they are great.  We keep them in all the cars, as again you never know when you need them."

I don't know about you, but I wouldn't mind trying them. Fill in the Rafflecopter below for your chance to win!

Summer Celebration Event- Almondina Cookies

It is time for another great giveaway in the Summer Celebration Event.
Are you looking for a different snack to try?
Check out this review and giveaway by A Little Bit of Everything

A Little Bit of Everything and Almondina have the next prize in our celebration.

This all-natural, crispy almond cookie has no cholesterol and no added fat, salt, or preservatives.  I have to say that automatically makes it a winner for me.  And really for a no fat cookie, they really are quite good.  When you think no fat, you think no flavor.  Not with the Almondina cookie.  No fat means LOTS of flavor.

I was sent a sample pack.  I have to say they are all so good.  My family has been super excited about the chocolate ones.  We have been having them for dessert and snack time.  This is a snack I am happy to give my kids.

They don't need any dipping at all.  It is a nice crisp cookie.  Has roasted almonds and plump raisins.

You can go to their website and purchase a wide variety of flavors and sample packs as well.  Do you want a chance to win them for yourself.

Summer Celebration Event- TheraNeem Tooth and Gum Powder

And here is another giveaway in the Summer Celebration Event!
Review and Giveaway by  A Little Bit of Everything.

A Little bit of Everything and Organix have the next giveaway for the Summer celebration

This is tooth and gum powder.  You may be why you need this product as you already use toothpaste. Well this product has so many great aspects to it.  It's fluoride free, gluten free, and so many other great aspects to it.

My husband is a back packer and he took this with him back packing.  He loved it.  It is light weight and takes up little space.  And he liked it.  All you do is wet the tooth brush and put some on it.  Brush like normal.

Here is some info from their website.
Analogy for TheraNeem Naturals Oral Care: As a species, we have not evolved using vast amounts of surfactants (sudsing agents) to protect or promote healthy teeth and gums. In truth, the “suds” do little to balance the ecology (bacteria) of our mouth, which is of primary importance for healthy teeth and gums. In our current culture, we may like a little sudsing action, but throughout history we have used plants, herbs and spices which innately contain broad spectrum and astringent actions to help maintain our individualized and unique homeostasis (balance) in the eco-system (bacterial colonies) of our mouths. The broad spectrum action of plants, herbs and spices helps to keep our mouth ecology in check, as well as offering astringent actions help tighten tissues and lessen secretions to promote healthy teeth and gums! To keep our customers happy, we do add some foaming action, but between you, me and our mouths – it’s the plants doing the work!
Great tasting: Our Tooth and Gum powders contain concentrated supercritical extracts of Peppermint Leaf, Spearmint Leaf, Anise Fruit Oil and Clove Bud. They match the great taste of our top selling mint and cinnamon toothpaste and mouthwash.

Kids and a Mom in the Kitchen: Fun Da Middles with Hannah

This week the older girls are going to VBS. As Hannah will not be able to attend we figured she needed some special time with mommy or daddy. Today I decided she might enjoy having some one on one time in the kitchen. I decided we didn't need anything complicated. We had a box of Fun Da Middles from Betty Crocker that we wanted to try out.

Note to self, do not leave a 2 year old in the kitchen alone with eggs while going to get the camera.
Surprisingly she did a pretty good job.  Though her hands were all icky and there was egg white all over the counter.
Anyway, we just used the box mix and combined it with the ingredients listed on the back.
2 eggs
1/3 cup oil
3/4 cup water

This makes 12 cupcakes.

Before I could stop her, Hannah cracked the other egg. I did get most of it to stay in the bowl.

Then we added the cake mix,

the water,

and the oil.

She loves using the electric beaters.

Yes, I gave her some cake batter.

Then we put approximately 2 tbs of batter in each cupcake liner.

The next step is to squeeze the filling pack.

Mommy then added the filling on top of the batter, making sure not to let it touch the sides.

Then I added the remaining batter and baked them for 25 minutes on 350.

Tabitha and Amelia both wanted to take a picture of mommy with Hannah.

They were very good. Gotta love that oozy middle.

Disclaimer: I didn't receive any compensation for this post. I just happened to have a box Fun Da Middles and wanted to try them out.

Do you have your children help you in the kitchen?  What lessons do they learn? Do you have any kid friendly recipes to share?
I'd love to see your posts, whether you have done something this week or some time in the past. Just link up below. This is a weekly linky.
