Summer Celebration Event-Hawaiian Reef Coloring Book

A Little Bit of Everything and Lucid Hawai'i brings you the next giveaway in Summer celebration

Book Description:

The Complete Hawaiian Reef Fish Coloring Book is the recipient of the Dr. Toy Best Vacation Children’s Products Award for 2010, The Creative Child Magazine Book of the Year Award and the Ziggits Gold Star Award. This book includes over 200 colorable illustrations to help children learn to identify over 80 species of fish and is a great snorkel guide for kids. Additionally, each illustration is accompanied by a complete description of the fish, including the scientific, common and Hawaiian names. Their anatomical features, coloration, body designs, feeding habits and reproductive strategies are also explained in a fully illustrated section devoted to these topics. An overview of coral reef ecology is also provided to help children understand the relationship between the fishes and the coral reef and the importance of conservation. The Earth Friendly Edition is now printed on recycled paper to better reflect the author and publisher's environmental philosophy, but we chose a high quality 80lb stock that holds up to markers when coloring the images in. This book is endorsed by conservation organization Save our Seas and is used in classrooms across the state.

They also offer FREE coloring sheets to conservation organizations and anyone interested in promoting coral reef conservation. You can sign up to receive these illustrations at www.lucid-hawaii.com

My thoughts:

I am really liking the book. My kids have been having fun coloring the pages and learning about all the different species that are in the reef. We have copied them so all the kids can enjoy coloring. We color one as the colors it should be, so the kids see what it looks like. This is a great beginning source. Some of the fish we have gone to looking them up online and learning more about them.
