For the past week we have been enjoying observing our Harvester Ants in their Ant Zone Environment. It is such fun watching the ants tunnel in and bring one piece of sand back to the top and go back for more. Ants are such diligent workers. There were times when I couldn't pull myself away.
I decided to make a special muffin tin last week to celebrate the ants. There was another reason I made this tin. Tabitha was actually upset that we had a Breakfast Muffin Tin last week. She had wanted me to wash the tins and also give them lunch in them. Um...no. There was no way. So, I decided to surprise her/them.
Ants on a log- Toast strips with peanut butter and raisins
Ants on a log- Celery with peanut butter and raisins
Ant larvae- Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
Ant Pupae- Green Grapes
Sunflower seeds- because ants will eat seeds
(I tried different seeds in our ant zone and they ignored them)
Ant hill-Graham Cracker crumbs poured over cool whip to make the shape, with added mini chocolate chips.
Yes, we eat our meals while we watch the ants. Don't worry, they can't get out. Which is good seeing as harvester ants can sting.
If you like what you see on my blog could you please vote for me. I just found out about this so I am still under the "Pending Approval" tab. But you can still vote.
I love that you have combined healthy eating and education. I think my boys would enjoy this as well!
