Giveaway is now closed!I was thrilled when I found out I was approved to do a review of a great new hand sanitizer called Prefense.
I am usually unable to use hand sanitizers because I am allergic to them and/or they dry out my hands. Yet I know how important it is to keep my hands clean so I can be protected from germs, especially because I do seem to get sick/catch colds really easily. And I want to keep the girls safe from germs as well. Don't we all??
Enter Prefense Silica Based Hand Sanitizer. The thing that made me want to try this out the most was the fact that it is 100% Alcohol Free!! Alcohol is the ingredient in all other sanitizers that makes it impossible for me to use them with my very, very, very sensitive skin. I figured, what could it hurt? If the Prefense doesn't work for me, at least the rest of the family can use it. Still, when I received it in the mail, I hesitated to use it. What if it made my already red, dry, itchy hands worse? I used it with the children and finally broke down and used it on myself. I wish I had taken some before pictures of my hands. They were so red and dry; they were driving me crazy! I really didn't expect a hand sanitizer to help my hands. Here take a look, not only am I keeping myself protected from germs, my hands are moisturized and healthy looking:
I don't usually like showing my hands as they have taken a beating over the years with different steroid creams the doctors have prescribed. And I really wish I had before pictures. But... I am really impressed with Prefense Hand Sanitizer. And no problem getting my children to use it. They finish up breakfast and wash the stickys off and then come for their hand sanitizer. Unfortunately for them they only need to put Prefense on ONCE A DAY (unless of course they wash their hands more than 10 times, then they can have some more, but shhhh, don' t tell them).
Who wouldn't want these benefits (taken from the Prefense website)
One ApplicationLasts All Day
- Protects against germs for up to 24 hours.
- 100% Poison Free
- Safe for Kids
- Alcohol Free
- Active up to 10 hand washings
Now, how does that compare to other hand sanitizers. Well, for one, other hand sanitizers only last for seconds, not hours. Instead of being safe for children other hand sanitizers are toxic and flammable, the reason we had to keep them out of reach at the day care I worked at. And, of course, I already mentioned that Prefense is alcohol free unlike other hand sanitizers. In fact, it is water based. And while Prefense is active for up to 10 hand washings, other hand sanitizers wash off, meaning you are no longer protected from germs!
You may be wondering how it works. From the pamphlet I was sent:
"Prefense patented formula contains a silica complex that produces a protective, invisible, moisturizing barrier that will not easily wash off. Wet or dry, this shield of protection defends you and your family from the transfer of germs for up to 10 hand washings without reapplication. Prefense goes one step further than other anti-bacterial products by slicing the cell wall of bacteria so germs are destroyed on contact."
Looking at the comparisons and how Prefense works, I would most definitely prefer heading out in the germ infested world protected by Prefense. Don't you want to protect your children the same way? Wouldn't you like to go grocery shopping and not have to worry about the germs left behind on the shopping cart? Wouldn't you like to know your little ones are safe if they put their hands in their mouths or by their eyes?
