The girls had:
Tapioca pudding as we thought the tapioca sort of looked like little butterfly eggs.
Cottage cheese eggs on a spinach leaf.
Fruit-kabob caterpillars (blueberries and grape slices)
Carrot slice caterpillar
Crescent roll chrysalis (we filled it with an apple piece shaped like a caterpillar).
Peanut butter and jelly sandwich cut in half diagonally and shaped like a butterfly with orange bell pepper antennae.

and the other caterpillars

You can see how we made the chrysalises here.
And the butterfly
Harold had cottage cheese, diced apples, blueberries and grapes, peanut butter and jelly sandwich cut into 4 triangles and his chrysalis.
what a great idea! Love it!
ReplyDeleteVery cute! Now that is a lunch any child would love!
ReplyDeleteCute! And I think you can totally get away with it as a picnic theme! I did a butterfly life cycle bento for The Muffin a while ago, and she loved it. Always a popular theme with the girls, I think!
ReplyDeleteSuper cute idea! Great way to get the little ones interested in healthier food choices! Love the butterfly!
ReplyDeleteKelli Avery

ReplyDeleteThis looks like a really fun and cute idea. I love that it is edible as well.
ReplyDeleteThat is such a neat idea! I'd do it with my preschooler, but fear he'd be munching before we could even look at everything.
ReplyDeleteWe have been doing muffin tins and themed lunches for a while. The children no they are not allowed to touch until we get to talk about it and mommy gets her picture.
DeleteReally neat idea and cute too.
