My Very Own Fairy Tale Storybook Review

I had the wonderful opportunity to review a personalized book from I See Me! Inc. I See Me! Inc. offers a wide variety of personalized books and gift sets for children. While there are many companies that offer personalized products, I love that the books from I See Me! are customized. Maia Haag and her husband Allan started the company with the goal of producing "an educational book that would teach young children how to recognize letters and spell their names."

We were given the opportunity to review My Very Own Fairy Tale.
My Very Own Fairy Tale Storybook
I thought My Very Own Fairy Tale would be a great book for Hannah as she is at the age where she is learning her letters and how to spell her name. In addition, my girls are very into fairies and princesses right now.  In this book the fairies, who live in a magical garden, are choosing a Fairy Princess. The various flower and berry fairies come one at a time carrying letters to spell out the name of the Fairy Princess. Each unique fairy has a special reason why this girl should be the Fairy Princess. I love that it is told in rhyme. When the fairies are done, they have spelled out the child's name, both first and last name and the company offers an option of adding the child's middle name for an extra charge.

The story starts with a beautiful two page spread filled with fairies in the magical garden.

On the pages where the fairies are spelling out the girl's name the one side is white with just the letters of the name shown thus far, and the other side is a full color picture featuring a fairy holding the letter. For example, the letter "H" is introduced by the Holly Berry Fairy who says, "This girl is the most Honest person I know"

By the time "Hannah" has been spelled out she has been described as: Honest, Angelic, Neat, Noble, Active, and Happy. Then all of the fairies who shared a letter are shown flying down and they wonder if they have been describing the same girl.

In order to know for certain which girl should be crowned they decide they need to spell out the last name. Such a great way to show that there may be many people with your first name, but you are still unique.

(Don't you just love the fairy throne they are making for the princess?)

After they are done describing their choice for fairy princess your child realizes that their name has been spelled out and they are to be the one. Another full color two page spread is shown with the chosen girl making her way to the throne and the fairies flying behind with the crown in their hands.

As an added bonus, at the end of the book there are several pages devoted to "The Fairy Patch."
All of the fairy names are explained and you get to learn a bit about different berries and flowers. There are at least 2 different fairies for each letter and 4 for the vowels, which means less chance of a fairy having to be repeated. The one thing I wish we could do is see a list of the fairies and traits before hand because one trait might fit a child better than another. I do love that the fairies are of all different races though.

And for more fun, these fairies are all hidden throughout the book. The girls had some fun trying to find them.

One other feature that was really precious is the dedication in the beginning of the book. It says, "This book was made especially for *child's name* who arrived on *child's birthday*" Then it includes the year given, which in this case is 2013.
