Littles Learning Link Up: July 17, 2018

 Each month you will find:

• A seasonal round-up (usually toward the beginning of the month)
• Posts where I share what I have been up to with my early elementary children (including occasional highlight posts where I share how we used ideas that have been linked up here on Littles Learning Link Up).

Each week, I will host a link up, where you can share either what you have been up to recently, or old posts that may go with the theme.  Feel free to link up more than one post.

Each week I will continue to feature a couple of posts from those that have been linked up.

What have we been up to?

Last week we are started back to school for our summer session with a field trip. We went to the Creation Museum and then to the Ark Encounter in Kentucky. I will be sharing pictures in both this week's and next week's Wordless Wednesday posts. One post dedicated to the Creation Museum, and the next dedicated to the Ark Encounter. I took approximately 1650 pictures! How's that for a field trip? No, I don't plan on sharing all of them, but boy is it going to be difficult to choose which pictures to share. 

We spent a day at the Creation Museum, then a day at the Ark Encounter, then our final day at the Creation Museum. Purchase of the museum tickets give people 2 consecutive visits, unless you buy the combo deal for the museum/ark, then you can do as we did if you so choose and go to the ark in between your visits to the museum. We spent the first day going slowly through the main exhibit, taking lots of pictures, and reading the info. Then we spent almost all day at the Ark Encounter on Tuesday, doing the same thing. When we went back to the museum on Wednesday we enjoyed the gardens and petting zoo when we first got there in the morning, so we could enjoy the "cooler" temperatures. Then we had lunch and watched the Planetarium shows and went through the exhibit again, more relaxed, making our way down to the exhibits we hadn't made it to, the Dino Den and Insectorium. 

I have to say, it was a wonderful experience, and one I highly recommend. There is so much information that helps support creation and the Bible. And the Ark! It is amazing to experience the true enormity of the Ark God told Noah to build. So many intricate details that needed to be thought about. It was not just a little ship where animals are cramped inside as most children's Bibles and books depict. And pictures of the Ark just don't do it justice. You HAVE to be there, next to it, looking up, to really understand.

Here we are, finally understanding. 

I mean, we had "walked-out" the dimensions using yarn over at the park with our My Father's World curriculum, but still you don't really comprehend how enormous it was.

I have to say, it was, as I expected, the best way to end our Creation to the Greeks year. We got a review of some of what we had learned, plus learned new details. To me, these details made it all so much more real than just reading about these topics in our books. We reviewed creation, the fall, the global flood, the confusion of the languages at the Tower of Babel. We were reminded of the different towers all around the world, towers that are similar, though not exactly the same, that showed the people would have been descendants of the same people, Noah's sons. We learned about the one ice age, and the way different species would have come from the "kinds" that God sent to Noah before the flood. Just so much to support a literal Bible and literal global flood. 

I can't wait to share my pictures. I invite you to stop back tonight or tomorrow, so I can give you a more visual explanation of what we experienced!

Of course, the children were supposed to work on some review products while we were at the hotel, but that didn't really happen, except for the first night. We were just exhausted after arriving back at our home-away-from-home each night. So, we are doubling up this week with our work.
