School Time: Week 6 (M Concluded)

We started out our week by learning some basic facts about Christopher Columbus.  You know, 3 ships, crossed the ocean in 1492.  However, as I knew that not all the information I learned growing up was accurate I was careful not to mention too much.  I was very thankful to find this link over at Joyful Learner's blog which shares some accurate info about Columbus.

First we made our Christopher Columbus Muffin Tin.

Then we painted a blue piece of paper blue.  Sky and ocean.

Later the girls cut out a new-for-them-shape, a trapezoid, three actually, to make boats for their Columbus Day picture.

Then they glued on the white triangle sails I cut out.

We also focused on our letter M again this week.
For our tactile M the girls glued marshmallows on their m's

When I checked back later I saw they had sneaked some of the marshmallows off of their paper.  Ewww. Marshmallow and glue snack.  Thankfully it is non-toxic.

The girls had a basic, beginner lesson on sorting and graphing.
I posted about that here.

Then we made our M mice.
I posted about that here.

I had commented about Amelia's mouse having 2 eyes and someone commented that it needed 2.  I have to agree with her.  The one with two eyes looks cuter to me.  But then the ears need to be rotated.  Don't you think?

Today, Grandma came on by to watch the girls while I had a court hearing.  I left 2 pictures of Moses for them to color.  After Grandma left Tabitha was upset because she wanted Grandma and Grandpa to each have a picture.  And of course Amelia then wanted to give her's to them too.  So I took advantage of the fact that mail starts with M and we took a walk.

Getting ready to go, hanging on tight to the envelopes
(They really had to hang on, the wind was fierce at times)

Waiting for daddy to buy stamps

Mailing the "letters"

After sharing their If You Give a Mouse a Cookie puppet show with Grandma and Nikki the girls had some help making a house.  Tabitha has been obsessed with reenacting The Three Little Pigs and Goldilocks and the Three Bears this week..

The wolf (that's me) blew down the little pig's house.

  4. Too cute!!! Lots of fun learning.

Your blog startled me today. LOL As many times as I've been here, I never knew you had music. I got a MacBook recently and I soon as I opened your page BAM! music. Now I know just how slow my old computer was. I could read and comment before the music even had a chance to load. lol

  6. The marshmallows and glue made me laugh! That is GREAT! The first time Elle saw glue she thought it was dip (sour cream) and dove right in. Great week at your home as always! Thanks for sharing! Kerri
