Happy Valentine's Day: Some special meals

We started off the day with mailboxes of treats at the children's spots waiting for them as they came down the steps to eat breakfast.

I woke up to a box of yummy candy at mine. Hubby had given me the flowers the day before!

Then I made the girls a special Love with Hugs and Kisses Breakfast.

(Cinnamon toast heart, scrambled eggs, Cheerio O's, Sausage Link X, Grape O's

And I couldn't leave Harold out.

He had the cinnamon toast cut up and formed into a heart, plus eggs and sausage.

And for lunch I made them a Loving Hearts Muffin Tin.

Heart Empanada
Grape Tomato and Red Pepper on Heart Picks
Tortilla Crisp Heart Butterfly
Strawberry Cool Whip Cloud (made by mixing Cool Whip with Strawberry Jello) with cut up strawberries mixed in and a heart shaped strawberry on top.
Heart shaped cheese (I was thrilled to find a set of heart cookie cutters at WalMart with a smaller heart)
M&M's

And, once again, I couldn't leave baby Harold out. He was sort of wondering where his food was.

Later in the afternoon, the girls and I made Strawberry Chocolate Chip Cookies, as found at Sally's Baking Addiction. I thought they would be appropriate for Valentine's Day.

I knew we were going to make Salmon Burgers for dinner as hubby has been wanting them for a while. Tabitha asked if I could make them into hearts.

Wordless Wednesday: February 13, 2013 (w/linky)- My Baby is Getting Too Big!

Sitting up in the chair without a booster seat at co-op so he could eat lunch.

Using a spoon to eat (even if it is only a play spoon).

I have to block the stairs with boxes so he can't get through and he is learning how to move them. This is the, "ooops, I got caught" look.

I made a little countdown chart the other day, counting down to his birthday.

Couldn't help myself. Had to share a picture of Mr. Cheese Nose.

He enjoyed the cake too.

And I had to share a picture of the girls. They aren't getting as much camera time unless it is for school. Here they are cuddled up under the blanket to stay warm. They are sitting on the heater vent. Actually, this is during school time too. Gotta love homeschooling.

Looking forward to seeing your Wordless (or not so wordless) Wednesday posts this week.

Getting Ready For Valentines Day: Heart People

We haven't done much yet to get ready for Valentine's Day which is shockingly in just 2 days. This year I decided we would make our heart people again as they fit in so well with the MFW unit we are currently on. We are discussing how God made us wonderful, which are our Words to Remember for the Uu: Us Unit. We have been discussing our 5 senses and talking about our body parts (which also fit in well with making Mat Man with Handwriting Without Tears, stay tuned for a review of this great handwriting curriculum later this month).
As we were already building people I thought the girls could each build a Heart Person to help decorate. We made them quite similar to the ones we made 2 years ago. You can see them here.

Here are this year's Heart People.

I traced a big heart and a medium size heart onto the paper in the color of their choice. Tabitha and Amelia cut out their own, while I cut Hannah's for her. Then I cut out a bunch of little hearts for them to choose from for eyes, noses, hands and feet. I used my paper cutter to cut 1 inch strips for the arms and legs (once again in the girls' choice of color). After the girls glued on their eyes and noses they used a pencil to draw a mouth on. Then they glued everything together.

I love simple yet cute crafts, don't you?

Muffin Tin Monday: Senses of Touch and Taste

AnotherLunch

I just discovered that Muffin Tin Monday has moved to anotherlunch.com! I am so thrilled that Muffin Tin Monday is going to continue, and to add to my joy, themes have been re-instituted! Unfortunately, since I did not know that I will be sharing our two muffin tins that focused on our senses as we have been focused on those these two weeks. We are learning that God Made Us Wonderful. Last week the muffin tin focused on the sense of touch and this week it focused on the sense of taste.

Our Touch Muffin Tin
(For this tin we had finger foods of different textures.)

They had bumpy popcorn, ridged/slimy pickles, teeny tuna sandwiches, rough Chow Mein Noodles and wrinkled raisins.

Harold also had a muffin tin. He had his Gerber Puffs, Green Beans, Carrots, and teeny tuna sandwiches.

Our Taste Muffin Tin
(this tin had sweet, sour and salty foods)

They had sour lemons and pickles, salty puff corn and ham & cheese, and sweet Nutty Bars and Grapes.

They weren't too fond of the lemons (even though when Tabitha was younger she used to suck on them with no problem).

Lovin' the Weekend Blog Hops: February 1-3, 2013

Welcome to Lovin' The Weekend Blog Hops with your co-hosts:

Thank you to every one who has stopped by, whether this is your first visit or you have been a faithful ongoing participant!

We would love for you to stop by each of the co-hosts and follow us, then feel free to add your links to any or all of the following linkies.

We also randomly choose a Featured host each week from the Lovin' The Readers linky. This week there is no Featured Host as the chosen blogger has not replied to the email. Please, to make this work, we need to hear back from the people who are chosen.

Don't forget to link up to the Lovin' the Readers Hop if you would like a chance to be a Featured host next week. Please comment with a way to contact you, especially if there is not an obvious way mentioned on your blog. We would love to include a little write up about you and your blog in the next week's Lovin' The Weekend Blog Hop post, including a link to your blog. And you will get to include the linky codes on your blog. Sound fun? We're looking forward to getting to know our readers better.

Here's how this blog hop works. We would appreciate it if you would follow Tots and Me, Adventures of a Mommy Homemaker and An Ordinary Housewife then please head on over to our Featured Host and follow as well. If you no longer have GFC please follow in some other way. After that there are three different linkies you can link to. Whichever one you choose to link to, please grab that button and share it on your blog (the codes are on Tot's and Me's sidebar). We'd love it if you could tweet or in some other way share about this blog hop, the more people who know about it, the more potential visitors and new followers of your blog. We'd love to meet some new friends this weekend.

Some people are more interested in just increasing their numbers, while others really want people who appreciate their blog and want to keep up with their posts. So, there are two separate linkies. The third linky is for you to link up your giveaways.

If you are interested in increasing the number of followers to your blog via GFC, Linky Followers, email, Twitter, Facebook or Google+ link up here. We will follow you back if you follow us (just note which one you are linking to):
