Dynowear Protective Active Wear Giveaway (2 Winners)

Here is a great giveaway for your active little ones.
Don't we all want are children to be as safe as possible?
Winter is poking its nose out of hiding. Weather is getting nippier. Warm clothes are slowly resurrecting from the back of our closets. With winter on its way, we all know how our little ones will be hitting the outdoors to practice their most favoured activities. One of them being, unsurprisingly, skating. When your kiddos throw on their skates and head off to the skating rink or grab the sleigh to venture the slopes, how confident do you feel about your child's safety? Do you ever feel a tad uneasy about a possible injury? How about gear... do your children have all the necessary gear for when they will be hitting the ice this season?

chocolate peanut butter (I was going to mix caramel sauce into the peanut butter, but we didn't have any left, so I used chocolate syrup)

Our Week In Pictures Blog Hop Week 1: Oct 28-Nov 3, 2012

It's our week in pictures blog hop! This is our first week so make sure you share it with as many people as possible so we can all meet some new friends and see some great pictures!
Here's how it works:

First: Make a post with pictures from your week.
Use as many or as few pictures as you like! There is no right or wrong way to do it!

Here are our pictures from the past week.

Harold's week:
This boy is NOT afraid of the vacuum. If he is on the floor while I am vacuuming he will try to get the vacuum. On this day he was in the swing, but he was waving his arms and getting so excited when it came near.

Of course, I already shared in my Wordless Wednesday post, that he is now creeping.

While we were making our Apple Crisp for Kids and a Mom in the Kitchen he got into my cupboard and pulled out our muffin tins. He was having a blast.

Not so much so with the bowl on his head though.

The girls prepared for Hurricane Sandy by taking the water bottles out of their plastic wrapping and placing them in tubs and baskets.

Of course, had to add a picture or two of them making the apple crisp for Kids and a Mom in the Kitchen.

Hannah had her first nap in her toddler bed this week. It was a little tricky keeping her in bed (still is), but we are getting there.

She also had her first night. It was so cute. She went into the room at bedtime and came back to ask for a sleeping bag. The older girls use blankets folded over as "sleeping bags" ever since Tabitha wanted one because Krystal has a real sleeping bag. I thought it was adorable that Hannah figured she would get one now that she was in a big girl bed.
This is how I found her in the morning.

And she helped make her bed

So, that was our week. Wish I had gotten a picture of Amelia helping make Hannah's bed.

Second: Link us to your post.
That way we can all see how your week went!

Third. Follow your hosts.
They will be numbers 1 - 3 on the list. We'll try to always follow back, but it's a tad easier if you leave a comment letting me know you're new here. :) My co-hosts this week are
Karen from Tots and Me
and
Arianne from Love, Peace, and Tiny Feet

Fourth. Try to stop by as many blog as you can and follow ones you love.
Leave a comment and let them know where you found them!
Fifth. Take a button!
Post this button on your blog so more people can find our blog hop! The more people that know, the more people that can join in our fun!

Kids and a Mom in the Kitchen #29: Aa-Apple Crisp

Time for Kids and a Mom in the Kitchen
(A weekly linky where you can share your special time in the kitchen, such a great place for learning. You can also link up Kid-Friendly Recipes)

The linky is at the bottom.

For the last 2 weeks we have been focusing on the letter a and apples. We read some great books with some yummy looking recipes we plan to try. This week, however, I wanted to make something simple and tasty. So I went with Apple Crisp. Stay tuned for some more great recipes though, homemade applesauce, apple muffins, applesauce cake and then some apple pie for Thanksgiving.

Gotta love apples!

I am not sure where I found this recipe as I have been using it for a while, but it seems to be a pretty basic Apple Crisp recipe.

Ingredients:

Filling:
10 cups peeled, cored and sliced apples
1 cup white sugar
1 Tbs flour
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 water

Topping:
1 cup quick-cooking oats
1 cup flour
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/2 cup butter, melted

Mommy started by slicing the apples, then I had the girls join me.

These are the filling ingredients.

These are the topping ingredients.

Adding the sugar to the apples.

Then we added the tablespoon of flour and the cinnamon and then we stirred.

We poured the apples into a 9x13 pan and poured the water over the top.

Amelia wanted a turn to level the flour, so I let her do that and add it to the oats in the bowl.

Then she added the brown sugar. And I added the baking powder and baking soda.

Of course, mommy melted the butter and added it.

Then it was time to stir again.

Then Amelia helped me add the topping to the pan.

Ready to go in the oven. Unfortunately we had to wait until after supper cooked as daddy had to work.

We baked it in a 350 degree oven for 45 minutes.

I think they may be excited about the dessert.

So was I. Of course, we had to have Cool Whip.

Directions:

1- Peel, core, and slice the apples. Put them in a large bowl and stir in the sugar, flour, and cinnamon.
2- Pour the coated apples into a 9in x 13in baking pan. Then pour in the water.
3- Melt the butter. We melt it in the microwave.
4- While the butter is melting, combine the oats, flour, brown sugar, baking powder, and baking soda in the large bowl.
5- Add the melted butter (a parent's job), and stir. Pour the topping onto the top of the apples in the pan.
6- Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
7- Cool for as long as you can stand to wait for the yumminess. Then enjoy with (or without) cool whip.

Do you have your children help you in the kitchen?  What lessons do they learn? Do you have any kid friendly recipes to share?

I'd love to see your posts, whether you have done something this week or some time in the past. Just link up below. This is a weekly linky.
