And now for my post:

My name is Karen, though if you see comments from kewkew that is probably me.  I started this blog, Tots and Me almost a year and a half ago now.  I wanted some place to record the fun and creative things I was coming up with to help my children to learn.  And I wanted to have a record/journal of what we were doing, figuring it would be helpful when we are official homeschoolers in 4 years.  I also wanted to share my ideas so others could have some benefit from it.  Yes, it thrills me when I have comments and gain followers because I know I have made even a teeny impact.  

I blog mostly about the lessons, projects, meals and activities (Montessori at times) we do each week, linking up to various weekly wrap up linkys.  Of course the books we read are included.  Oh, and I take lots and lots of pictures.  Mainly of the girls.  Though I have joined in on photography challenges occasionally, I am no where near a professional photographer (though I am learning more).

I have a weekly link-up myself, called Words of Wisdom Wednesday where I ask my children a "Why do you think..." type question and record their answers.  I post and ask my readers to ask their children the same question, post about it and link up.

I also post giveaway opportunities that I find around the blogosphere that I feel will be of interest to my followers/readers.  So, mostly stuff that is geared toward children or mommies.  Check out my link at the top of my side bar for any current giveaways, either ones I find, or ones I am hosting.  Right now I have a giveaway going on for the book by Stefan Aschan called Alpine Weight Loss Secrets.  The think about this book and his "secrets" is it is not just about losing weight, it is about feeling younger, getting healthy, rejuvenating yourself.  Check out my review and enter the giveaway for your very own copy.

Welcome to Words of Wisdom Wednesday. I hope to have posts up every week in this new year.  If you are new to Words of Wisdom Wednesday, welcome.  In Words of Wisdom Wednesday I post the answer to the question I posed to the girls this week.  I just want to get them thinking and I am intrigued by the way their minds work.  I invite you to ask the same question to your children and post their answer on your blog.  At the end of the post there will be a linky for you to join up with which will be open all week.  I just ask that you link back here in your post so others can hear about Words of Wisdom Wednesday.  In fact, if you would like to grab my button it is over on my sidebar.

This week I asked the girls:

Why do you think you need to clean up your toys?

Here is Tabitha's answer:

Because, so we don't trip.  Or if we don't fall.


Mom: Is that the only reason:
Tabitha: Yes, because if we don't clean up we will fall and if we pick up all of the toys we cannot trip, otherwise we do not like it if we fall.

Here is Amelia's answer:

Cause, so we can brush teeth.  We can go to bed.


Mom: Is there any other reason.
Amelia: Yeah, yeah we have to clean up toys to get pajamas on.

I was hopping around, checking out blogs yesterday, and I found a new-to-me blog, My Four Monkeys.  Angie has a Monday Giveaway linky list and she lists a bunch of giveaway linky lists for each day of the week.  While I was over there I saw this great giveaway for a really unique headband.  These headbands are made out of ribbon and are adjusted with little plastic piece.

Tiny Talk Tuesday: January 25, 2011

I always look forward to sharing the cute things that my children come up with, and I love reading other's children's comments too.  So I am glad I can link up to Tiny Talk Tuesday at Not Before 7.  Click on the image above to head on over to check out other cute comments.  Now, on to the comments from the last couple of weeks that I had the chance to write down.
We were sitting at the table eating dinner and daddy and I were trying to figure out what we were going to have for dinner the next night.  We spell a lot so that the girls don't catch everything we are saying.  However, Tabitha has been able to decipher a lot of our spelled out words so we have resorted to spelling backwards.  On this occasion daddy said, "a-z-z-i-p for dinner tomorrow?"Tabitha said, "What? Pizza?"Okay, the double z's might have given it away, so I wanted to test it.We spelled: r-a-z-z-l-ee-l-z-z-a-ra-z-z-i-p And there was no response from her at first.  Then she said, "No, that doesn't spell pizza.  You spelled pizza wrong."
Yesterday Steven was getting ready to make Tabitha's birthday cake.  Tabitha was in the room and he said, "I am going to make b-i-r-t-h-d-a-y-c-a-k-e.  There, spell that one." (to Tabitha)She said, "Birthday Cake"
On Monday's the town fire hall siren goes off for a test, scaring the children at first.  (We live right across the street from it) Today it went off, then it went off again, not sure why, we never saw any fire trucks or ambulances going out.  Several minutes after it had stopped Amelia said, "The siren's not on.  It's back to its home.  Now it won't scare me anymore."
Also tonight, while we were sitting around the table during dinner, we somehow got on the topic of babies.  If I have another baby, Tabitha is insisting the baby's name is going to be Fluffy.  Daddy mentioned the next baby's name should be Harold after him (he really would love a boy).  Someone made a comment wondering what it would be if the baby was a girl.Daddy said, "If it's not a boy, we'll put it back."Tabitha responded, "We can't put it back in mom's uterus."  They fixed the hole in mom's uterus.  Not with tape.  I don't know how."Daddy asked, "Superglue?"Tabitha said, "No!  I don't know what they use."Daddy said, "Where do they put the hole?"Tabitha said, "Right here on her chest."Daddy said, "Actually, that's her belly.  Why did they put a hole in Mommy's belly?"Tabitha answered, "So it could get out better.  I just started growing after my baby size.  But I still have baby teeth when they fall out, they'll be all gone again."Amelia chimed in, "I have baby teeth because I'm a baby on WiiFit."Daddy brought it back to the original conversation, "How did they fix the hole in mommy's belly?"Amelia, "NO!"Daddy: So there is still a hole?Tabitha: Yeah there is. Mom is there still a hole in your uterus? Mom: No.
That is most of the conversation.  I missed a little here and there.
And I am going to leave you with a little comment from my oldest. No he is not a tot, he is 18, but I had to share this.  He enjoys watching the comedian Jeff Dunham, especially with Peanut.  Yet he realizes some of his language is far removed from what we consider decent.  The other day we were talking about how funny he is, even I think he is funny.  Steven said he was "So much swearful."
