Muffin Tin Monday: 5 and/or green

Today we started our new school year.  I had wanted to try to do a tin that was school themed seeing as there was no assigned theme this week, but I blanked.  So I focused on our new number (5) and our new color (green).  We will probably do a themed lunch for our letter of the week (n) later on in the week.  But for today I will share our Muffin Tin Monday lunch:

Here is the menu:

#5 painted on a quarter hot dog roll with food coloring and a toothpick

5 green grapes

green peas

5 pieces of cheese

5 pieces of hot dog

green mashed potatoes

green milk (daddy suggested adding a drop of peppermint 

extract, which I did and it was pretty good)

Tabitha's had the added benefit of being in a Vegetales cup

with Larry the Cucumber on it.

They didn't seem to like this one as much as last weeks.  In fact I wish I had a picture of Amelia's mashed potatoed hands.  Tabitha did end up eating it all and she asked for more grapes, of course then Amelia wanted more too.

Four/Yellow

I decided to start the week off by reviewing the numbers 1-3.  We played our Feed the Penguin game (you can find details about the game here), we hadn't played it in quite a while and the girls really do enjoy this game.

I chose this game because it only has cards for the numbers 1, 2 and 3.  Fortunately Hannah napped and allowed us to play that plus work with our felt numbers.

We started with zero.  

Then as we added felt animals we found the correct numeral.  

I then did a little basic addition with Tabitha.  

I would add one ladybug under the first column and we 

would say the equation and she would tell me the answer.

They worked with it for a while and then Tabitha decided to hide from me.  Can you find her. lol.

Then it was time to take the animals for a ride

Reviewing the numbers 1-3 served two purposes.  I could see if Amelia was getting the concept (she's getting there) and it gave me a great way to arrange my muffin tin for Muffin Tin Monday.
Then we had another themed meal on Tuesday.

1 cup of tomato soup, which Tabitha insisted on having with her
3 strips of grilled cheese sandwich and
2 pieces of tomato (which we seem to have a continual supply of from our garden, praise the Lord)

We finally moved on to the #4 and made our books.

And of course we had our yellow card hunt and find same as we did for red and orange (sorry, no pictures, here is the post with pictures from our red hunt if you would like to see what I am talking about).  However, while I was glancing at the old posts to see if I could share a picture for at least one of the hunts I discovered I forgot to play the #4 game. Perhaps we will do that today as it is something I don't have to have plans for and can do while holding the baby.

We also made ladybugs with 4 spots.

First they glued the red wings onto the black body:

Then we added the 4 spots.

Amelia loves giving hugs

Amelia's does have legs, half of them are just under the ladybug

Tabitha likes to make her's fly.

In fact, the ladybugs are not hanging up on the wall yet

because the girls like to play with them.

The girls are now doing their own dishes after breakfast.

Muffin Tin Monday: ABC's

Yay! It is my first ever Muffin Tin Monday.  I have been wanting to do this since I first saw posts about it almost a year ago.  Unfortunately, I didn't have a suitable muffin tin.  We have one muffin tin with 12 holes and 1 mini cupcake pan.  Neither of which works right with 2 children to do this for.  You can't believe how pleased I was to finally find something usable at a yard sale a couple of weeks ago.  So I decided I would post about our ABC muffin tins I made for lunch today and link up over at Muffin Tin Mom's blog.

I decided to focus on the letters A B and C.  Each letter is represented two times.  

A- Applesauce and Apple sticks

B- Bologna and Bread B's and Beans

C- Cheddar Cheese Cubes and Animal Crackers

The girls are used to me making themed lunches, but I think they really got a kick out of the muffin tins.

Tabitha actually cleaned her plate:

I went a little over board and decided to do a D dessert:

Donut and Dora gummies

(Boy was I upset I didn't have any alphabet gummies left.)

Mamarazzi Monday: August 23, 2010

It's time to share some of the evidence of my obsessive picture taking habit.  I love creating memories, even if everyone else is not always amused when mommy says, "Wait, let me go get the camera first," or "Don't move, that deserves a picture."  So, without further ado, here are the pictures I am linking up to Mamarazzi Monday, hosted by Ann Marie over at Household 6 Diva.

The girls were having a little dinner party it seems.

I heard them going back and forth between the kitchen and

the playroom.  Bowls and spoons were being borrowed.  

Don't worry, I know they are using diapers on the dolls; I won't

use them on Hannah anymore.  One day they leaked two times 

when she had a bowel movement.  Let's put it this way, 

one is not saving money buying cheapy brand if one is going through 

extra diapers or ruining clothes.
