The Charming Mad Chatter

I found out about this great link up over at The Charming Mad Chatter a few weeks ago, and I am linking up once again. If you get the chance I would recommend heading over to Madeline's blog and checking it out.

Here are the rules for the Learn Something New Tuesday linkup.
YOU MUST answer the questions in order to link up!

I will delete ALL links that don't follow that guideline!

Please link up the post and not your whole blog!

6. What's your favorite Christmas tradition?

1. Did you celebrate Halloween? (example; go trick or treating, decorate, etc)
No, we do not celebrate Halloween. We feel it is a pagan holiday, definitely has roots in paganism. I didn't realize how many of the traditions surrounding Halloween had pagan roots.
2. What's your favorite Thanksgiving dish?

If I can get good homemade mac and cheese (like my ex's father used to make) I would have to choose that. However, I would have to say that I really enjoy stuffing and also sweet potato casserole.
3. Pumpkin pie or apple pie?
Apple Pie
4. Are you a Christmas minimalist? Or do you go present overboard? :)

We do not want the children to feel that Christmas is all about the presents. We are actually in the middle.
5. Do you incorporate Christ in Christmas?

Yes we do as it is the celebration of His birth, His first coming to earth. We read the Bible stories on the days leading up to Christmas. We do not have a tree. We make a paper tree that we use as a countdown/Advent chart. Each day we cut off a piece. Underneath we have a picture of a cross. It is supposed to represent needles of the tree falling off a little at a time and then shows that Christ died on a cross, so we don't want to focus on the tree of Christmas.
6. What's your favorite Christmas tradition?

I'm thinking the tree Advent calendar from above. I actually got the idea from a Christmas card I saw years ago.
