Littles Learning Link Up: June 5, 2018

 Each month you will find:

• A seasonal round-up (usually toward the beginning of the month)
• Posts where I share what I have been up to with my early elementary children (including occasional highlight posts where I share how we used ideas that have been linked up here on Littles Learning Link Up).

Each week, I will host a link up, where you can share either what you have been up to recently, or old posts that may go with the theme.  Feel free to link up more than one post.

Each week I will continue to feature a couple of posts from those that have been linked up.

What have we been up to?

In our Bible reading we have come to the time of Judah's fall and the captivity in Babylon. We have been reading about Daniel and his friends plus Nebuchadnezzar. In our history portion we have learned about Classical Greece, specifically Athens and Sparta. Personally I have enjoyed learning how world events fit in with events in the Bible. 

We also started reading from Aesop's Fables for Children. The older girls are to write the "moral" from the end of the tale as additional copywork. I've also started insisting that Tabitha write at least one of her Bible verses in cursive each week. Amelia is working on her cursive with one of our review products, so she has the option to write in cursive, but she doesn't have to. She surprised me last week by writing the Pledge of Allegiance in cursive.

We didn't really get to any science last week again. But the children have been working on their math individually on the computer. The older girls continue to work in CTCMath. Hannah alternates between Starfall and CTCMath. And Harold is working in MathSeeds. They have all been working on language arts using different materials. Harold is using Grammar Galaxy, while Hannah is using Hake Publishing's Grammar and Writing 3. The older girls are using MaxScholar. All of these are review products, though one is for the single review team which means I won't be posting it on my blog, at least right away.  

We also got to take a field trip last week. We went to the Pocono Raceway to watch the ARCA race, plus practice and the qualifying for this past Sunday's NASCAR race. This is our second year attending this race. Thankfully we can get in for free just by bringing Monster drink cans. No, we don't drink that nasty stuff, but we had been given some cans. Last year I shared our experience in my Wordless Wednesday post, and I plan to do the same tonight. So, be on the lookout for that fun post later tonight or tomorrow.

A couple of weeks ago I posted my reviews of  Home School Navigator, and the book T is for Tree: A Bible ABC from Reformed Free Publishing Association. 

This week I will be sharing reviews of New American Cursive 2 from Memoria Press and Critical Thinking Detective Book 1 from The Critical Thinking Co. Later in the month I will be sharing about MaxScholar, Grammar and Writing 3 from Hake Publishing, and The Master & His Apprentices.
