Littles Learning Link Up: September 18, 2018

 Each month you will find:
  • A seasonal round-up (usually toward the beginning of the month)
  • Posts where I share what I have been up to with my early elementary children (including occasional highlight posts where I share how we used ideas that have been linked up here on Littles Learning Link Up).
Each week, I will host a link up, where you can share either what you have been up to recently, or old posts that may go with the theme.  Feel free to link up more than one post.

Each week I will continue to feature a couple of posts from those that have been linked up.

I hope you will continue to share your wonderful posts, and I hope you will find something new to try with your child(ren).

It would be great for everyone to stop by and visit the other linked-up posts as well. Check them out, leave some comments, pin those that interest you. Let's make this a real party and socialize with each other.

What have we been up to?

We are making our way through the book, How the Bible Came to Us by Meryl Doney.

Our main history book is Augustus Caesar's World by Genevieve Foster. I am really enjoying reading about Augustus Caesar, who was originally named Octavian. The books starts around the Ides of March when Julius Caesar was assassinated. But there is also back story in the form of flashbacks added in. I am not sure how much the children are getting out of it, but I am learning a whole lot. I usually have the children color or work on art while I am reading. They were working on mosaics yesterday.

For science we've been learning about the human body using the books First Encyclopedia of the Human Body from Usborne, and The Human Body for Every Kid by Janice VanCleave. So far the first book has been read to give us some introductory information, and then we go into detail, including definitions and activities with the other book.

Our main topic, after learning about cells, has been the brain. We learned the parts of the brain and then have been looking into details about each one. We learned about how our body functions without our directing it, with the medulla, and how the cerebellum helps us balance.

Tabitha helped copy the illustration from the book when we were learning about the parts of the brain. This way her siblings could all see it to draw it on their own paper.

We are also reading a book called Forensic Faith for Kids by J. Warner Wallace and Susie Wallace. In this book we will be learning how to share the truth from the Bible, which is our duty as Christians. We have chosen to also watch the helpful videos and PDF pages from the Case Makers Academy's website. Here is the cover page for our Cadet Academy Notebook.

There are also neat activity pages plus question sheets for each chapter.

And yes, this is a review product.

Speaking of reviews, let's take a look at that review schedule real quick:

Last week I shared my reviews for PictaDicta from Roman Roads Media and the two Kingdom Files books from Barbour Publishing. This week I will be posting my review for the Captain Sun book Later in the month I will share our thoughts on the math website called I Know It., plus the newest release from Heirloom Audio Productions, St. Bartholomew's Eve. Then in October I will share about the book I mentioned above called Forensic Faith For Kids.

Here are a few things I would like to share with you:
