Littles Learning Link Up: February 14, 2017 - Heart Panda Craft

 Each month you will find:
  • A seasonal round-up (toward the beginning of the month)
  • A guest post featuring crafts, activities, tips, snack ideas or other early childhood topics. (toward the end of the month)
  • Posts where I share what I have been up to with my preschoolers and/or early elementary children (including occasional highlight posts where I share how we used ideas that have been linked up here on Littles Learning Link Up).
Each week, I will host a link up, where you can share either what you have been up to recently, or old posts that may go with the theme.  Feel free to link up more than one post.

Each week I will continue to feature a couple of posts from those that have been linked up.

I hope you will continue to share your wonderful posts, and I hope you will find something new to try with your child(ren).

It would be great for everyone to stop by and visit the other linked-up posts as well. Check them out, leave some comments, pin those that interest you. Let's make this a real party and socialize with each other.

What have we been up to?

We have moved on from Brazil and are now learning about Norway. We finished up our Brazil unit with a yummy meal of Brazilian Meat Stew with Shredded Greens plus some yummy chocolate Brigaderiros, which I still need to post about. We are now in the middle of reading the book Snow Treasure by Marie McSwigan, which is based on actual events in Norway during the German occupation in 1940. We also finished up our Frog unit and have moved on to Fox, though we are taking the rest of this week off, as I realized we haven't had a break since the end of December.

Moving on to co-op, last week we made two different heart-shaped animals crafts. I shared the Valentine's Day Heart Mouse Cards last week, and planned on sharing the Heart Pandas, but I never got around to it. So, that is the focus of this week's Littles Learning Link Up. The idea to do a heart shaped panda popped into my head early Wednesday morning (a few hours before co-op was about to start). There were several different heart shaped panda crafts that I found online, so I just sort of went with my own interpretation. I thought it would be a cute craft to go with the book Sweet Hearts by Jan Carr.

All you need for this craft is white card stock, black construction paper, glue stick, and a black marker or crayon.

For each panda you will need:

1 big white heart
4 medium sized black hearts
1 small black heart
2 smaller white hearts

We decided we liked the big white heart to be facing with the point pointing upward. Then the children glued on the black hearts for the eyes, then they turned the heart over to glue the points to the other medium sized black hearts to the top for the ears.

We then added the small white hearts to the center of the black hearts.

Then the children glued on the nose and drew on a mouth.

A nice, simple craft. Older children could cut out their own hearts.

Let's take a look at that review schedule:

My review for Times Alive from Times Tables the Fun Way went live last week. Hannah has been using her Language Arts Curriculum from Eclectic Foundations. That review will be posted the beginning of March. We also received two new Circle C Stepping Stones books written by Susan K. Marlow. Tabitha and Amelia will be reading these books, and the review will be posted in mid-March. We are also reviewing two products that will be shared on the Old Schoolhouse website - Joseph: The Canada Goose, which is a storybook and art lesson book from How Great Thou Art Publications, and The Word Warriors Game.

Some Things I would like to share with you:

As it is still winter, here is my Chock-Full of Snowman Fun Round Up from last year.

And here is my Celebration of Snowmen post from a few years ago.

If you and your children have had enough of heart-type crafts, perhaps you would prefer to make a panda bear out of different shapes. I posted this Panda Bear Shape Craft {with Free Printable} a couple of years ago.

Don't miss my giveaway for the children's book
