Kids and a Mom in the Kitchen #110: Jesus is the Light Torches

Time for Kids and a Mom in the Kitchen
(A weekly linky to share what you and your children have created in the kitchen.)

The linky is at the bottom.

The children and I have been spending time focusing on Jesus and how he is the Light of the World. We are coming to the end of our review period of Egglo Entertainment's Glow in the Dark eggs. This week we made some Jesus is the Light Torches as a yummy object lesson. I also made the children a lunch based on Resurrection Sunday, using the ideas from the event  curriculum. I will be sharing that yummy idea in my review post which will be coming out in a couple of days, you won't want to miss the lunch idea or the review!

Without further ado, here is how we made the Jesus is the Light Torches.

Ingredients:

This is really a simple snack.

Pretzel Rods
Large Marshmallows
(We used regular sized ones, and I think they were meant to be larger, but it was all we could find.)
Whipped topping
Red and Yellow Sugar Crystals

I gave each of the children a pretzel rod and a marshmallow.

They put the marshmallow on the pretzel rod.

We dunked the marshmallow in whipped topping.

Then we rolled it around in the sugar crystals.

Do you have your children help you in the kitchen?  What lessons do they learn? Do you have any kid friendly recipes to share?
I'd love to see your posts, whether you have done something this week or some time in the past. Just link up below. This is a weekly linky.
