Time for Kids and a Mom in the Kitchen
(A weekly linky where you can share your special time in the kitchen, such a great place for learning. You can also link up Kid-Friendly Recipes)

The linky is at the bottom.

We need to take a couple of dishes to pass for our homeschool co-op Harvest Dinner this week. I wasn't sure what to take for a dessert that would be wheat-free. I settled on No Bake Cookies which we haven't made for quite a while. I used to have a recipe, but I couldn't find it. The recipe I am sharing comes from allrecipes.com

Ingredients:

2 cups white sugar
1/4 cup baking cocoa
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup butter
1 tsp vanilla
pinch of salt
1/2 cup peanut butter
3 cups quick-cooking oats

We poured in the sugar, cocoa and milk

Then we added the butter.

We brought it to a boil, stirring occasionally. Even daddy helped.

Once it came to a boil we boiled it for a minute.

I removed it from the heat and added the peanut butter, vanilla and oats.
Edit: Make sure to add the oats and vanilla, then add the peanut butter last. It does make a difference.

I stirred until it was all melted and combined.

Then it was placed on waxed paper to cool.

Do you have your children help you in the kitchen?  What lessons do they learn? Do you have any kid friendly recipes to share?

I'd love to see your posts, whether you have done something this week or some time in the past. Just link up below. This is a weekly linky.
