Tiny Talk Tuesday: December 7, 2010

It is time for me to share some of the cute comments I overheard AND had time to write down this past week.  If you would like to read other children's cute comments head on over to Not Before 7 where Mary hosts

Lately Amelia has been quite the singer.  She will sit with Hannah between her legs (she got the idea from Tabitha) and sing her her ABC's.  She also likes to sing The Wise Man Builds His House Upon the Rock.  Except she sings "the foolish man built his house upon the rock." As many times as we try to correct her she keeps reverting to her version.  One day while Amelia was singing this Tabitha stated, "And do you know it's a foolish thing for the wise man to build his house of the rock?"

The other day daddy was getting ready to vacuum the living room (see Christmas garland leaves lots of shiny strands all over the floor that babies shouldn't get a hold of and put in their mouths).  The girls like to help out by getting our Swiffers out.  They think they are vacuuming too.  As daddy got ready to vacuum, Tabitha yelled, "The Vacuumers!!"  As a side note, Amelia pronounces vacuum like this: ga goom.

They love to help, but they are scared of the vacuum getting them.  Just for the record, the Swiffers are empty and not really picking up anything.

Last week when Amelia was looking out the window at all the rain we were getting (before we got all the snow later on), Amelia said, "I need water to drink," referring to the water coming down outside the window.

Yesterday we had our first Christmas Muffin Tin Meal and I chose to use the theme, Christmas colors.  I also included a star shaped toast spread with cream cheese.  First the girls thought it was a cookie, oops.  When I explained what it was Tabitha was still calling it frosting and said she didn't like that frosting.  The following comments were said throughout the meal, sometimes out of the blue.
"Mom, don't put it on again.  I'm three years old. Three year olds don't like cream cheese.  I know it's fun. 'Cause three year olds don't understand what that is.  Next time, put butter on the toast."
At that point I remarked, "you need to remember your manners young lady." And she said, "Please."

  3. I love it when the kids join in the activities you are doing, like today my son (2-1/2) insisted on helping put away the dishes (he'd hand me something and I'd put it away). I love the vacuuming together. Also so funny the comments about the cream cheese! Like a mini-adult.
