Littles Learning Link Up: January 9, 2018- Fluffy Snowflakes

Happy New Year!
 Each month you will find:
  • A seasonal round-up (usually toward the beginning of the month)
  • Posts where I share what I have been up to with my early elementary children (including occasional highlight posts where I share how we used ideas that have been linked up here on Littles Learning Link Up).
Each week, I will host a link up, where you can share either what you have been up to recently, or old posts that may go with the theme.  Feel free to link up more than one post.

Each week I will continue to feature a couple of posts from those that have been linked up.

I hope you will continue to share your wonderful posts, and I hope you will find something new to try with your child(ren).

It would be great for everyone to stop by and visit the other linked-up posts as well. Check them out, leave some comments, pin those that interest you. Let's make this a real party and socialize with each other.

What have we been up to?

We are back to our normal routine this week. Except for the fact that the children have dentist appointments today, so I have to throw together some on-the-road learning activities. The children have been learning about the plagues God sent the Egyptians prior to the Exodus.

First our home was inundated with frogs.

Then they were covered with flies and gnats.

And yesterday the poor Egyptians were covered with boils.

The Israelite helped me put the boils on the Egyptians.

The older girls, the hubby, and I have also started a 3 year journey of reading through the Bible chronologically in 3 years. I even created a Facebook group so others could join us. The girls and I have also been Bible art journaling using verses from our reading each day.

Here's a glimpse of what we've been creating. The girls are using a journal we got from the dollar store, while I am using my ESV Illuminated Bible which I reviewed late in 2017.

Moving on to the craft we did in the co-op preschool class last week.

Fluffy Snowflakes

Your will need:

Construction paper: I let the children choose between blue, light blue, and purple
Cotton balls
marker to match the color of the construction paper
white school glue
white paint
I printed out a snowflake template only so I could get proper distance between each "arm" of the snowflake.

We read the book "If Snowflakes Tasted Like Fruitcake" to go with the project.

I used the template to make dots at each point and the middle. The children then drew lines from the center out to each point using the marker that matched their paper.

I then put glue on the lines they drew and they added cotton balls that I had already pulled apart into 3 or 4 smaller pieces.

The older children added some extra lines to each "arm" to make them more fancy.

Then they used the paint to finger paint on some tiny fingerprint snowflakes using their index finger.

Here are their finished snowflakes. Love how they are all unique.

Let's take a look at that review schedule real quick:

I recently received Bonjour! Let's Learn French. That will be a review that will post on The Old Schoolhouse Magazine's website. Other than that, we have no current reviews, though we should start learning about potential new products soon.

Here are some things I would like to share with you:

Winter is here in full force, I thought you might like some ideas revolving around snow. We've been getting quite a bit around these parts. How about you?

There is only a little over a month to be getting ready for Valentine's Day. I'm sure you've noticed the candy in the stores like we did. Here are some ideas for celebrating Valentine's Day with your children.

Now onto:
Littles Learning Link Up Features

On my last Littles Learning Link Up post, there were 10 wonderful posts linked up. As there were no clicks, I will be picking two randomly selected posts to share.

Please, don't forget to stop by other posts that are linked up. See what catches your eye, stop by, pin the post to a relevant board, and perhaps leave a comment to let the author of the blog know you have been by for a visit. I know I appreciate others commenting and letting me know they have read my posts, so I am sure others do too.

This week's first randomly selected post is:

Lisa from Syncopated Mama shared God's Great Love for You by Rick Warren

And here is this week's second randomly selected post.

Sara from A Mama's Story shared 7 Tips to Starting 2018 on the Right Foot.

Join the Party!

I would love to have you join in this week! What sort of activities do you do with your young children? Do you have some favorite activities you would like to share? I invite you to link up below. I will be pinning posts on one of my relevant boards, and I would love to feature some of the activities each week from what is linked up.

Please know I may share a picture from your post and link back to it, along with sharing how we used your idea in our school time. By linking up you are giving me permission to use a picture from your post. I will ALWAYS give credit and link back. Additionally, if you choose to try out any of the ideas with your child, please make sure you give credit where credit is due.

Linky will be open through Monday night, to give me time to check out all the posts and get the Features organized. Please take the time to visit some of the other wonderful posts linked up.

No button currently, and there won't be one until I can figure it out seeing as Photobucket has changed things. Feel free to still share the picture in place of the button. Just link it to my Littles Learning Link Up permalink please.

  2. The Bible journaling is so pretty. All the different styles are wonderful to see 'side by side.' And I love the snowflakes. We might have to try something similar in our house.
