Kids and a Mom in the Kitchen #68: Baked Oatmeal

Time for Kids and a Mom in the Kitchen
(A weekly linky to share what you and your children have created in the kitchen.)

The linky is at the bottom.

One of the things we have been having more of since trying to go wheat-free is oats. I found this great Baked Oatmeal recipe at Taste of Home when our furnace wasn't working and we really enjoy it.

This week is:
Tabitha and a Mom in the Kitchen

Ingredients:

3 cups quick-cooking oats
1 cup brown sugar
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
2 eggs
1 cup milk
1/2 cup butter, melted

We combined the oats, brown sugar, baking powder, salt and cinnamon.

Then Tabitha cracked the eggs into a separate bowl and whisked them. She helped measure out the milk and poured it into the eggs.

Then we added the melted butter.

We stirred it into the oat mixture.

She loved the way the liquid was flooding the oats.
Then we spooned it into a greased pan. It is supposed to be a 9 inch square pan, but it works well in my small rectangular pan.

I think Tabitha was really excited that I allowed her to put it in the oven.

Then we discussed the importance of cleaning up.

It baked in the 350 degree oven for 40 minutes.

This is delicious with or without milk.

Do you have your children help you in the kitchen?  What lessons do they learn? Do you have any kid friendly recipes to share?

I'd love to see your posts, whether you have done something this week or some time in the past. Just link up below. This is a weekly linky.
