The linky is at the bottom.

I found this recipe while I was online, I believe someone had linked to it on Facebook, but I am not sure. The recipe can be found at the Betty Crocker website.

4 children ready to make Golden Graham S'mores (or Indoor S'mores).
Yes, 4! Harold crawled up onto the stool so he could "help."
By the way, they are saying "s'mores" if you are wondering about the weird expression on Amelia's face.

This is what you will need:

8 cups of Golden Grahams
5 cups + 1 cup of mini marshmallows
1 1/2 cups of milk chocolate chips
1/4 cup light corn syrup
5 Tbs butter (or margarine)
1 tsp vanilla

Harold was ready to get started.

First we poured the Golden Grahams into a large bowl...

Though someone thought it would be better to eat them.

When we finally had 8 cups of Golden Grahams in the bowl, we set it aside.

Then we combined the next several ingredients in the microwavable bowl.

We added the 5 cups of mini marshmallows.

(He was very sad that I wouldn't let him have any marshmallows.)

Then we added the milk chocolate chips.
Yep, there's his hand again.

I added the corn syrup and Tabitha measured out 5 Tbs of butter.

Amelia helped put the butter in.

All ready to go in the microwave.

Microwave for 2 to 3 1/2 minutes on high, pausing to stir after every minute.

Ours took 2 minutes and it was melted and smooth (after being stirred).

Quickly, before it cools down too much, pour it over the cereal that was set aside. Stir until coated.

Oh, and don't forget to add the extra, optional cup of mini marshmallows.

Pour into the buttered 9x13 inch pan and press down with the back of a buttered wooden spoon.

And then attempt to take a picture of 4 children with the finished product.

(Sorry, couldn't help myself. I had to share 3 of the 6 pictures I took. This is the best out of the bunch. Though, if Harold had been looking at the camera instead of trying to eat the stuff in the bowl, the first one would have been the best.)

Do you have your children help you in the kitchen?  What lessons do they learn? Do you have any kid friendly recipes to share?

I'd love to see your posts, whether you have done something this week or some time in the past. Just link up below. This is a weekly linky.

  1. I have recently realized the importance of allowing my girls to help me into he kitchen and the importance of training them up in this way. Growing up, we were always "shooed" from the kitchen while mom cooked and baked. The result: I hated when I "had" to help mom bake cookies, etc. as a teenager, because I saw it as a chore and my poor husband married a very novice cook. As I have grown in the Lord and wish to raise my girls to please Him, I see the importance of not only teaching them these skills so that they may bless their future families, but also doing it with a cheerful heart so they will hopefully see spending time in the kitchen as a blessing and not a chore.

  2. I've always invited the kids in the kitchen and now I have three grown boys and one teen girl that ALL love to cook!! Now, we are trying to interest my 2 year old granddaughter in helping. Keep up the good work there. I had to laugh because Harold sure seemed to be enjoying himself....except for that one sad little picture. ;) Thanks for sharing the recipe!
