The linky is at the bottom.

We usually make Resurrection Rolls the day before Resurrection Sunday, this year I was just too busy, so we didn't get to them until today. I just saw it as a great opportunity for a review. If you have never made Resurrection Rolls they are a great illustration of the resurrection of Jesus. The ingredients all symbolize parts of the Resurrection story.

Here are the ingredients:

1/4 cup butter, melted
4 or 8 marshmallows
refrigerated crescent rolls
2 tbs sugar
2 tbs cinnamon

First I had the girls try to figure out how much of a stick of butter equaled 1/4 cup.

Yes, we figured out half of the stick was what we needed.

Then Tabitha wanted to melt it in the microwave.

While it melted I unrolled 4 of the crescent rolls. The original recipe calls for you to make all 8 into the Resurrection Rolls. I am following one reviewer's tips on allrecipes.com to use two crescent rolls per resurrection roll.

Then Hannah helped me measure out the sugar and the cinnamon.

And she stirred it.

Then they took turns rolling their marshmallows in the melted butter. The marshmallow represents Jesus' body.

Then they rolled it in the cinnamon sugar (which represents the burial spices),

and placing it on the unrolled crescent roll triangle (which represents the tomb).

We then rolled them up and pinched the seams together.

Some of the dough still had holes.

So, using the advice, we wrapped each of them in another dough triangle (I would say this represents sealing the tomb).

We then rolled them in the butter and cinnamon sugar again.

We baked them in the 375 degree oven for 17 minutes (also a change from the original recipe).

Unfortunately 1 still oozed a bit, but this was a much better outcome than last year where they all oozed all over the place.

And you can really see how the roll/tomb is empty.

Do you have your children help you in the kitchen?  What lessons do they learn? Do you have any kid friendly recipes to share?

I'd love to see your posts, whether you have done something this week or some time in the past. Just link up below. This is a weekly linky.
