The linky is at the bottom.

In these week's leading up to St.Patrick's Day we are again focusing on one color of the rainbow at a time. We have focused on Red, Orange and Yellow. Last week I shared the Strawberry Pretzel Salad. We have since made Orange Creamsicle Cake and Crockpot Pineapple Angel Food Cake. Today I will share the Orange Creamsicle Cake as the Crockpot cake did not turn out right at all and I am going to have to play with it to figure out what happened.

Orange Creamsicle Cake

1 pkg orange cake mix (plus what ever ingredients are needed to make the cake)
1 (3 oz) pkg orange Jello
1/2 cup boiling water
1/2 cup cold water
1 (8 oz) tub whipped topping
1 1/2 cups cold milk
1 sm pkg instant vanilla pudding
orange flavoring

First  we made the cake mix according to the directions.

After the cake had cooled I punched holes into it. They suggest a fork, I heard someone say a straw, but I am not sure how that would work. I used a Pampered Chef Hold and Slice (which is why the girls didn't do it).

Mix the Jello with the 1/2 cup of boiling water until it is dissolved, then add the cold water. Make sure you pay attention here. I used a full cup of boiling water so I ended up adding a second pkg of Jello and just using half. You pour this over the cake and refrigerate for 1 hour.

Then it is time to make the pudding. Mix instant vanilla pudding with 1 1/2 cups of milk

Then we added a couple of tsp of orange extract and some red food coloring to make it look and taste orange. It looks a bit dark, but it lightens up when the whipped topping is added.

See, told you.

Frost the cake.

And enjoy. However, it is addicting. You have been warned.

Do you have your children help you in the kitchen?  What lessons do they learn? Do you have any kid friendly recipes to share?

I'd love to see your posts, whether you have done something this week or some time in the past. Just link up below. This is a weekly linky.
