Muffin Tin Monday: Columbus Day

Muffin Tin Monday at Her Cup Overfloweth

Well, aren't I turning into the rebellious one.  This week's theme was supposed to be pumpkins. Unfortunately I didn't have everything ready and available to make it.  I opted instead to wait until the Halloween week to do my pumpkin theme (as we don't celebrate Halloween) and today decided to do a Columbus Day theme.

The Nina- deviled egg with paper sail
The Pinta- boat shaped pb&j with american cheese sail
The Santa Maria- Corn Dog boat with cheddar cheese sail
Marshmallow clouds and
Blue Jello sea with a Swedish Fish
(Because I told the girls when the sailors were crossing the ocean all
they would have seen is sky and sea, sky and sea, etc.)
Cheese compass (compass was daddy's idea),
the pointer is a sliver of carrot and there are extra behind the compass.  The directional letters are painted on with a toothpick and food coloring.

Unfortunately they were more interested in playing in it.
Especially the Jello and egg yolk.
Here Tabitha is making the egg boat sail in the Jello.

The girls helped make the Jello and I was going to have them help with the deviled eggs, but they went off to play.

Thanks for visiting my blog today. I'll post the recipe for the pumpkin pie bars later....my mother was wanting it too!
BTW-we don't celebrate Halloween either, but are crazy about pumpkins and scarecrows. I prefer the cute stuff during this Harvest Season.
