Rock 'N Learn Review and Giveaway

Before Christmas I was entering all the giveaways I could find for Rock 'N Learn DVD's. I thought my girls would love them. They are only allowed to watch educational shows/DVD's and they love music, great combination. I had my heart set on winning Money and Making Change because we have been learning about counting money, though I was a little afraid it would be over their heads as it is recommended for ages 6 and up. Imagine my delight when I won not one, but two Rock 'N Learn DVD's from two different blogs. I was able to choose Money and Making Change from the one blog and from the other I was sent Letter Sounds (sounded perfect for Hannah).

Well my girls have watched them quite a few times since Christmas. The older girls really enjoy Money and Making Change, but they said they were bored with Letter Sounds. I sort of figured they would be, as they already know their letter names and sounds, which is why I gave it to Hannah for Christmas. I have to admit, I was not really paying attention when the girls were watching it. Lo and behold, when I sat down and paid attention, I realized the repetition that was boring them was part of a game and once they understood that, they started enjoying the Letter Sounds DVD too.

Here is what I love about these DVDs:
In Money and Making Change Penny and Bill (yeah, that is them on the cover) teach the viewer to recognize the different coins to The Coin Song, so helpful in learning. Then they learn to count coins, also learning to count on and skip count. I loved that a little bit of history of the coins was thrown in too. And they were taught how to count back change. The first time they watched this DVD, they got out their banks and started counting their money.

Tabitha was even counting by two's. She also wanted to add up all her coins to see if she had a dollar.

There is so much more the girls will be able to comprehend as they get older. I think this is a great DVD for learning to recognize coins and count money. Even today, Amelia asked me what a coin was and then she answered for herself before I had a chance to.

I do have to admit, the garage sale section seemed to be very repetitive to me. The girls on the other hand are fixated. They show different items with price tags and a certain amount of money, different every time. They have to count to see if they have enough money to buy the item and then later they learned how to make change.

In Letter Sounds the children are greeted with The New Alphabet Song. After this introductory song the children are taught how to properly form each sound from an on-screen mouth. The children are shown the letter (both upper case and lower case), taught the sound and then a word with a picture is shown to represent that sound. Then they are given a little quiz to see if they can say it. Then they get to play "Name That Letter." This was the part that was boring them, until they realized it was a game and they were supposed to say which letter/sound they heard in the sentence. Once they were playing along, they had a lot more fun. Tabitha said, "I like that game. That game is fun." They also got to read simple C-V-C words and blend some words with consonant combinations. Tabitha sat there using the words in sentences after the word was complete. At least I know she understood what the word was. They also learned some sight words. The DVD finished off with building sentences with simple words.

Now I realize both of these DVD's should really be over Hannah's head, but she loves sitting there watching them. I did think there would be more songs involved in the learning, but that was just my assumption. There is quite a bit of music in the background, which might be what captures Hannah's attention so much. Or maybe it is the cute cartoon characters teaching or the bright colors. Whatever it is, the girls are hooked on these DVD's. I would highly recommend looking into these DVD's for your children. They have so many to choose from. Preschool and Kindergarten DVD's for learning the alphabet, letter sounds, shapes, colors and counting, even animals and nursery rhymes. Phonics and Reading DVD's and CD's, Math (such as Telling Time, Adding and Subtracting, Fractions and Decimals and Multiplication), and for older children Science and Social Studies and Languages.

Muffin Tin Monday: Sort of Leftovers Day

So of course, last week I did a Valentine's Day tin, and I really didn't want to do another one this week. So I just threw together some leftovers with some other healthy foods and called it lunch. Not very creative today.

Muffin Tin Monday: Valentine's Love

This week we are going to be focusing on Valentine's Day projects, so I figured it was a great time to have a Heart/Love muffin tin.

Double heart melty cheese sandwich with Love written on it with ketchup

Cherry tomatoes (cut in quarters for Hannah)

Peanut butter and jelly heart quesadillas formed into a butterfly

(sprayed with cooking spray, sprinkled with red sugar crystals and baked in a 400 degree oven for 4-5 minutes)

Yes, that is a Twizzler being used as the butterflies body.

Little Debbie Heart cake

I love that the Cherry tomatoes almost resemble hearts when they are cut in half.

Which is how the older girls were served theirs:

Oh, and did I mention there was something hidden under the butterfly.

We needed a fruit after all and the girls love grapes.

Unfortunately Hannah became sick right as I was serving up the food and let's just say some of her food was inedible. I tried letting her eat something, but she was only interested in the grapes. Poor thing.

Goal Planning Monday at Mama Manuscripts

I have spent the last couple of months with no motivation, no energy, no accomplishments, and I fear we are all hurting from it. I need to get back into some semblance of routine for all of our sakes. So, what should I find while I was playing around on the computer in the wee hours of the morning, but Goal Planning Monday. Perfect timing, God's leading, a push in the right direction. So here it goes. What are my goals for this week?

Blogging:

Write up my Montessori Course giveaway
Write up my Rock 'N Learn Review and giveaway
Review Masking Maniac
Blog Hop at least 3 days
Comment on Wordless Wednesday posts
Prepare and schedule at least four of my Baby Shower Celebration Sponsor Write ups

Household:

Organize the laundry room
Organize the play room
Keep up with vacuuming daily

Homeschool:

Get some Valentine's Day books out of the library
Make Valentine's mailboxes
Do at least two other Valentine's Day crafts for decorating
Get sensory bin ready
Let children get on Speekee TV site at least 3 times this week and do "lesson"
Workbooks at naptime at least 3 times this week

Spiritual:

Work on Bible verses with children
Start reading my Bible again each morning
Read a couple of chapters of Crazy Love

Super Bowl Sunday Muffin Tin Dinner

So how do we celebrate the Super Bowl? Why, by having a Super Bowl Muffin Tin Dinner of course.

I prepared a couple of plates of food and a muffin tin of veggies and dip

Our veggie tin with Ranch Dip, Cream Cheese/Salsa dip and Guacamole

Mushrooms, Olives, Red Peppers, Green Peppers, Cucumbers and Broccoli

Plus some cheese strips and Corn Chips.

And can't forget the bread footballs with Go Giants written on them.

Then I made some Deviled Egg Footballs, this was something I pinned from Lillian McKay Designs.

We also had "Pigs in a Blanket" which I found at the Pillsbury site and some football shaped sandwiches (also found at Lillian McKay Designs.)

These personalized flashcards have so many possibilities, it was hard for me to narrow down what subject I wanted to focus on. You have got to check out the Goosie Cards site for all the great tips and ideas they have.

As I was able to create a set of 10, I decided to focus on numbers. I wanted to add a little more though. I have been wanting to teach the girls more Spanish, so I added Spanish to the cards as well. Thus a little bit for all the girls. Tabitha and Amelia already know their numbers, so the number part of the flashcard is mainly for Hannah. But I included the older girls by adding the Spanish number.

Here is a picture of one of the cards I created

It is so simple to make your own set of flash cards. All you need to do is take pictures of the items you want to feature, or use pictures that are already on your computer. They also have photos in their gallery, if you choose not to take you own pictures. Then you upload them to the Walgreens Photo Center to use their creativity shop. You add up to five lines of text and a one line title for your collection. With the Signature Collection you can choose your border from different colors and styles and you can select to have them hole punched.

The quality of these cards is wonderful . They are laminated heavy card stock (if you get the Signature Collection. The Everyday Collection isn't quite as thick, but it still comes laminated. They are the perfect size, 4 1/4 in by 7 1/2 in. I love the fact that with the lamination you can trace on the cards with a dry erase marker. This was one of the tips I found on the Goosie Cards site. Also, if you purchase a second set you can use them as memory matching cards. Isn't that a neat idea.

Counting is something that we do all the time and she tries counting with me. I love that she is seeing familiar sites and objects on these cards (including herself). I think it makes it so much more meaningful.

The one thing I wish I could change a bit is their is a limit to the number of letters on each line. I was unaware of this before I got on the Walgreens Photo Center site. So, I sort of had some ideas of what I was going to have printed on the cards that wouldn't fit. I wish we could change the size of the font so we could fit more symbols per line. It probably wouldn't have bothered me as much if I had known before hand and hadn't had specific word combinations in mind. But, I made it work and we love the cards the way they came out.

What ARE my girls up to?

I haven't been very motivated lately when it comes to our homeschooling, you might have noticed this. I remember feeling the same way in the last trimester before Hannah was born, but we seemed to get more done back then. I still have more I want to do with our Pizza theme. Of course I really should be getting my Valentine's Day activities done too. Arrrrgggg.
Today I wanted to share what Hannah has been up to, and a little of what the older two have been doing, besides wrecking the playroom.

Hannah loves to read books.

And if the TV is on, you will most likely find her in front of it on her knees, sitting Indian style or like this:

Last week I got out our Pizza activity that I made a while ago. I drew a pizza onto a piece of poster board and left places to put the toppings for a one to one activity. We have some great magnets I found a while back. Hannah wanted to use it the one day, so I let her.

Even without showing her what to do, she was placing the magnets into the circles. I think it is time for some puzzles!!

She loves her sisters' computers. She has one of her own, but it needs batteries. In the pictures here, she wanted to read, but she didn't want to leave the computer either.

Tabitha and Amelia have been putting on shows, they love to use their microphone, especially after they recently started watching Sid the Science Kid. If you haven't watched this show, Sid uses his microphone to share things and the girls have really upped the use of their microphone.

One day, Hannah picked up the microphone and decided to put on her own show.

Amelia was building with blocks one day and created these buildings.

Tabitha wanted to make some too, so Amelia showed her how.

Hannah just loves building towers.

Kids and a Mom (and a dad) in the Kitchen: Peanut Butter Fudge

Well we didn't quite make what I planned on making this week for Kids and a Mom in the Kitchen. Daddy had a hankering for some yummy peanut butter fudge, so we made that our recipe for the week. This one is his specialty so I let him lead the way. The girls helped out of course. Tabitha couldn't read the recipe/ingredients, because daddy has the recipe in his head. I have rectified that. The recipe is now written down and I can share it with you.

Peanut Butter Fudge

2 cups sugar

1 cup milk

1 tbs butter

1 tsp vanilla

1/2 cup (plus) peanut butter

We started by pouring the sugar and milk into a pan.

Then we set the pan aside while we got the rest of the ingredients ready. This is very important because you won't have time to measure them out later. Tabitha cut off 1 tbs of butter and put it in the green bowl.

Then Amelia poured in the vanilla (I missed the picture though) and daddy got the peanut butter measured. He likes to put in a heaping 1/2 cup of peanut butter.

Those ingredients are then set aside while heat the sugar and milk on medium heat. You need to stir constantly until "your arm falls off or you reach the soft ball stage, whatever comes first." Luckily we had helpers to make sure our arms didn't get too tired.

Daddy showed Tabitha how to test for soft ball stage without a candy thermometer. I leave this up to daddy too. Use a bowl of cold water to put a little bit of the mixture in. He told her that it should sort of feel like your ear lobe. As soon as it is ready you need to put in the peanut butter mixture.

Then pour into a greased (I use margarine) 8X8 pan.

Muffin Tin Monday: Make Your Own Sandwich

Another week of not quite knowing what to do (sometimes I sure do miss those themes). Another week of having hubby give me a great idea. The girls like to make their own sandwiches, so we did, Make Your Own Sandwich muffin tin.

The only difference in Tabitha's is that she doesn't like Monterey Jack cheese, so she got shredded cheddar.

Hannah did NOT get to make her own sandwich. She had already started digging in while I was trying to get the pictures.

I came back in the room and Tabitha had cut her's quite neatly.

And I was surprised to see that Amelia added the fruit and cheese to her sandwich. The fruit sounds good, the cheese, not so much.

Is it Winter? Or is it Not?

After sharing those lovely photos for Wordless Wednesday where we finally got to go out and play in the snow, I had to share these pictures I just took. So many people commented that they were jealous of the snow. Well, here is what our yard looks like today:

School Time: Pizza Week

This week started off like all the weeks these last couple of months. I had no idea what we were going to do. I have not been having a successful time with Five in a Row. The girls really enjoy hands on projects and I was just getting burned out trying to come up with appropriate projects. I guess it didn't help that I was trying to follow the baker's journey from How to Make an Apple Pie and See the World by Marjorie Priceman. There were books for a few of the countries that our baker travels to listed in Vol 1 of FIAR. But I had to come up with books of my own to work from for other countries. I have been trying to get back into the swing of things. A couple of weeks ago I was going to focus on the book The Snowy Day because it was snowing on Monday. Then all the snow melted. There went that idea. I was going to transition from The Snowy Day to Katy and the Big Snow which is a FIAR book. I am hoping the snow we have been getting will stick around, because I hope to row that book, not this coming week, but the next week.
This week we had a Pizza Theme. It started out with a simple suggestion from daddy to have a Make Your Own Pizza Muffin Tin.

Then I decided to focus on "Pizza" for the entire week. I planned on at least one meal a day having some sort of pizza. Plus I had some activity ideas and crafts. And I put a bunch of Pizza books on hold.

On Tuesday we didn't do much because of Play Group. But we did have pizza for dinner. I was planning something different actually, but I was exhausted and hubby found a coupon deal for Pizza Hut, so he ordered a meal pack.

On Wednesday we had leftover pizza for lunch and then for dinner I planned a Dessert Brownie Pizza. I made this our Kids and a Mom in the Kitchen post for the week.

This was delicious, but doesn't keep well because of the strawberries and the bananas. So, unless you have a big family I would suggest making this to take as a dish to pass. We ended up throwing some out because we couldn't eat it fast enough.

I had an idea of a craft I wanted to make. I remembered seeing it a while back on another blog. Fortunately I was able to find it quite easily by heading over to Google and searching for "Pizza Craft." Amy over at Crunchy and Green did this craft for a Pizza slice over a year ago. We needed brown paper for the bottom crust, a paper towel roll for the crust and red paper for the sauce.

While the older girls cut out their pizza triangles, Hannah glued together the pieces I had already cut out for her.

As you can see, Amelia's cutting skills have really improved.

After the girls glued the sauce onto the crust they were able to add some toppings that I had cut out. Tabitha also wanted grated parmesan cheese, so I used a hole punch to make some dots from white paper.

Hannah actually had more on her's at one point, then she started pulling it off and putting it in her mouth.

After they finished their pizzas (except for the paper towel crusts) they decided to cook it in the "oven." Tabitha decided it needed about an hour to cook.

It came out before that hour was done.

On Thursday we had Breakfast for Dinner Thursday, so I made a Breakfast Pizza. I found the recipe at allrecipes.com. It was pretty tasty. Thought the girls didn't like it.

And Friday we had Grilled Pizza Sandwiches.

We read some great books about pizza.

Pete's a Pizza by William Steig is about a little boy named Pete who gets made into a pizza by his dad when the weather prohibits him from going out to play. Lovely imaginative book.

Grandpa and Me by Karen Katz is a lift the flap board book. The grandfather and little girl make a pizza. The children enjoyed lifting the flaps to find the missing objects.

One Pizza, One Penny by K. T. Hao is a longer picture book about two friends, Ben Bear and Chris Croc who enjoy sharing their time and food. Ben Bear makes delicious pizzas and Chris Croc makes yummy cakes. After the richest man on earth pays Chris Croc for a slice of cake he thinks he needs to sell his cakes and Ben Bear decides he needs to sell his pizzas. They don't want to share anymore.

Curious George and the Pizza is adapted from the Curious George Film series and edited by Margret Rey and Alan J. Shalleck. George and his friend go out for pizza for dinner. Of course George gets curious and tries to make a pizza, making a big mess. The owner of the pizzeria ends up forgiving him after he helps him deliver a pizza.

And we played Amelia's new game, Stick-to-it! Phonics Games: Short Vowels which she received for Christmas. I purchased this from Educational Insights with the gift card I won toward the end of the year. This game has a felt game board with a pizza pictured on both sides. The one side has word endings and the back has pictures. It also comes with 2 self stick balls. I will share more about this and Tabitha's game we won in a later post. I just thought Pizza Week was a great time to get out the game.

I plan to continue our Pizza theme this coming week. I have some other activities we didn't get to. So, wouldn't you know that it would actually snow this weekend and I could do my snow theme. Oh well, winter will be around for a while.

Muffin Tin Monday: Martin Luther King Jr. Day

I started out the day, once again not sure what our muffin tin would be. We are still focusing on pizza this week, but I didn't want to do a muffin tin with pizza again. Then when hubby headed out to the mailbox to get the mail and returned empty handed, I remembered it was Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Still, wasn't thinking about muffin tins though. But when I mentioned it was a holiday Tabitha ran to the calendar to check it out and I started contemplating a muffin tin based on segregation and integration. And this is what I came up with.

We usually use whole wheat bread, but I thought I would make their sandwiches half wheat/half white.

Then I mixed some chocolate frosting with peanut butter to make some brown chocolate peanut butter. This went on the wheat bread. And I put white Fluff on the white bread.

Each spot has something integrated with something similar but a different color.

After talking about our muffin tin I had the girls take the segregated sandwich and integrate it:

I turned around to see Hannah putting her sandwich together and was able to quick click a shot.

Tabitha had her normal triangle sandwiches.

Amelia wanted big triangles.

And Hannah had her normal squares. By the time I got around to taking a picture of her tray she had already finished her grapes.

I love the way Hannah says, "cheese" as soon as the camera points her way.

Then we had a special drink.

First the chocolate is separate from the milk.

Then we integrated it.

We eat a lot of eggs in our house. Hubby always has a 3-egg egg sandwich for breakfast. Ever since I became pregnant I have been having eggs every morning so I can get the protein and the iron. Now the children are requesting egg sandwiches occasionally. I like to keep the cartons for crafts.

I thought the look on Hannah's face was a look of wonder at our lovely Winter Wonderland that finally seems to have arrived. Hubby says she is thinking, "I wonder why it took so long."

Zoopanic from Endless Games: Review and Giveaway

I was given the opportunity to review the game Zoopanic from Endless Games with my girls. I have to say- what a great concept. When I saw the picture on Endless Games website I thought it looked like it would be a blast. The zookeeper is in a panic. The animals are in the wrong cages because they got loose. I love how bright and full of energy the cover of the box is. Doesn't this look like it will be a fun game to play?

The gameboard represents the zoo. It was bigger than I was picturing it, which was great. The game comes with four zookeeper pieces, two truck pieces, 22 animal cards, 22 trophy cards and a die.

The instructions were clear and easy to follow. (As long as you don't skip a line or two. I skipped one critical line at first and couldn't figure out how we were supposed to do something. After rereading more carefully, I completely understood.)

The girls were very excited to play it the first time. They keep asking to play it again, so these pictures are actually of the second time we played.

I love the simplicity of this game. The website says the game is for ages 3 and up, though the box says it is for ages 4 and up. Technically Amelia is 3.5 yrs old and she loves it. There is no reading required to play the game. The child does need to be able to count the dots on a single die or have a parent help. Both my girls are able to count one to one, so it is perfect. If your child isn't counting one to one yet, this is a perfect opportunity to practice.

To set up the game the animal cards are placed face down on the board covering the animal spaces randomly.

Then the truck pawns are places on two of four truck spaces. The youngest child is supposed to play first. We did this the first time and then Tabitha got to play first the second time, to keep it fair. You can enter the board from one of 5 spaces. The children just pick one randomly, but I am trying to explain to them once you roll the die, you can figure out which space you want to start on to make sure you land on an animal space.

The object of the game is to get all the animals back in their correct cages. You do this by first landing on a brown animal space and picking up the card in the cage. This is the animal that you are finding the correct cage for. The girls love hunting on the board to see where they have to go to return the animal.

Once you figure out where the animal belongs, you need to figure out the quickest way to that animal's cage. I felt this was a great educational opportunity. Along the way, if you happen to land on a truck space with a truck pawn on it you get to use the truck until you deliver the animal currently in your care to its cage. The truck helps you move faster, you get to move double the number rolled. Another great educational opportunity. We counted the number of dots on the die twice and then counted the total number. Once you return the animal to its cage you get a trophy! Then you either take the card that was already in that cage and flip it over to find out your new animal to find a home for, or, if the card has already been removed and is in another player's care, you roll the die and make your way to a different cage to pick up an animal. The game is over when all the animals have been returned successfully to their correct cages. The winner is the one who has the most trophies, representing the most animals returned.

I loved the educational opportunities in this game:

Figuring out which is the fastest route to a certain space.

One on one counting.

Learning the different animals.

Doubling numbers.

Matching the animal cards to the animal spaces. (I love that once you put the colorful animal card on the blue and white animal space it completes the picture. Reminds me of a puzzle.)

We also used it as an opportunity to work on our manners. Remembering to pass the die to the next player, or asking politely for the die if the previous player forgot.

Here is what the children liked about the game.
Tabitha: I like the part where I get to put the animals in their cages.
Amelia: I liked that they got in the wrong cages at night.

Here is what they didn't like:
Tabitha: I didn't like when they were being stubborn.
Amelia: Where I didn't get to win the whole game.
She also started getting tired of it. I say this because I am under the assumption that you have to roll the exact number to reach the space to return the animal to its cage. This is what the instructions say, "An animal can be returned to the correct cage only when the player lands on the brown animal space outside the cage." To me that meant an exact count. Let's say you need a 2 and roll a six. This can work because we would pace back and forth in front of the gate until you reach the number. But if you need a 2 and you keep rolling an odd number you are never going to get in. This is what we are calling "being stubborn." Which was sort of fun, but it made the game last a long time. So, we modified it a bit. The second time we played I made the rule that you didn't need the exact number to return the animal to its cage. The game went much faster.

All in all, a great game, lots of fun and action with bonus educational activities.

Kids and a Mom in the Kitchen: Brownie Pizza

We have been focusing on pizza this week as a theme, much to hubby's delight. I decided a dessert pizza would work really well this evening. Yesterday I realized we haven't done a Kids and a Mom in the Kitchen for a few weeks. Perfect fit, perfect timing. We found a delicious sounding dessert pizza at foodnetwork.com. So, after Hannah was down for her nap, the older girls and I walked over to the store to purchase the missing ingredients. This recipe is really simple, definitely a good match for working in the kitchen with children.

First we gathered the ingredients, of course (Tabitha is getting really good at reading the ingredients and remembering that 1/2 is a half. She still struggles with 1/4. She reads them better if they are written out and the numbers are straight up and down).

1 (20-ounce) box fudge brownie mix
1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1 (8-ounce) can crushed pineapple, drained
(for the life of me I have never seen that size can. I bought a 20oz can and used half)
2 tablespoons sugar
2 banana, sliced
1 cup fresh strawberries sliced
Marshmallows
Maraschino cherries
1 cup chopped nuts
Coconut
Chocolate syrup, for drizzling
Whipped cream
Mint, for garnish

Getting ready to start. They were signing egg and cut for some reason. So I took a picture.

First we needed to mix the brownie mix according to package directions:

They were helping each other hold the bowl (they did a really good job cooperating).

The mix is supposed to be poured into a greased 15" pizza pan. We do not own any round pizza pans. The cookie sheet you see is what we use for pizza.

Then the brownie "crust" needs to bake for 15-20 minutes. The recipe says 20, some reviews said 15, so I set the timer for 15 minutes, after which I checked it, and threw it back in for 2 more minutes.

Of course they wanted to lick the spatula and the spoon.

Their next job was to slice the bananas.

Then we mixed the softened cream cheese, sugar and pineapple together with a mixer on low speed. The girls took turns and then I finished. Then we spread it on the cooled crust.

The remaining ingredients get placed on however you like really.

And a drizzle of chocolate:

Oops, just realized I didn't get a picture of the girls with the finished product. Too late now. Yummy.

Tabitha had hurt her knee and INSISTED she needed a piece of wet toilet paper. Of course, an almost five year old knows better than the mom who suggested an ice pack. She was actually told no to the toilet paper. When daddy went in to get her because she was complaining she couldn't walk, the above scene is what he found. They had put lotion on their knees (because suddenly Amelia's knee hurt too) and wrapped toilet paper around it. I guess it wasn't the wet toilet paper that I had forbidden.

I started this post a several days ago and have since also been tagged by Farrah at 3 Kids, 4 Years. I am going to combine the posts by answering both of their questions, but only posting 11 random things about myself, creating only 11 new questions and tagging 11 other bloggers.

11 Random Things About Me
1. I can't drive standard shift vehicles.
2. I have tiny toes.
3. I love coffee, but I can't drink it because the caffeine makes me jittery.
4. I am 32 weeks pregnant with my 7th child (making this the 11th child my hubby and I have between us).
5. I'm addicted to the Baby Bump app.
6. I'm allergic to cats really bad, makes me have trouble breathing.
7. I would love to be able to open my own in-home day care.
8. During this pregnancy I have been craving chocolate/peanut butter, preferable ice cream.
9. I am obsessed with the Twilight series. I prefer the books and have read Breaking Dawn probably about 6 times (3 times more than the rest of the series).
10. I can't stand folding laundry.
11. I grew up in NYC (well in Queens).

Yep, parent here. My husband and I have 11 children between us. My older children: Steven, Floyd, and Krystal. My husband's older children: Chris, Amanda, Candice, and Alex. Our children together: Tabitha, Amelia, Hannah and a little boy due to make an appearance Feb 17 via C-section.
8. What is your dream job?
Running a home day care while writing books.
9. What was your favorite subject in school?
My favorite subject in elementary school was math. I don't think I had a favorite subject in High School.
10. What is your favorite animal?
I love horses and I also love cats.
11. What is your favorite celebrity?
I don't have a favorite celebrity.

Farrah's Questions to me:

1.) How many children do you have and do you want any more?
All together we have 11 children. I have 3 from a previous marriage. My husband has 4 from a previous marriage and we have 3 together with one on the way. While I would have loved more, we have decided this is our last child because I am almost 39 and this is my second c-section.
2.) What is your all time favorite movie?
While I love Twilight and Harry Potter, the movies leave a lot to be desired. I would have to say (because I haven't read the books) that I love the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, with Return of the King being my favorite
3. Do you have a favorite sports team?
The New York Giants (this was my father's football team), I also root for the Bills with my husband, but if they are playing the Giants I have to root for the Giants.
4.) What is the hardest decision you've ever had to make?
Deciding what to write down for this answer. No, really, I am not sure. I would have to say deciding to sign the divorce papers my ex-husband brought before me. My church was advising me not to sign as it would make me have a part in the divorce. But I couldn't afford a lawyer and didn't know what else to do. Plus my ex kept getting in my face and yelling at me about it when I said I would not sign. So in the end, I signed the papers.
5.) What is your least favorite food?
Clam chowder
6.) What's the first concert you ever went to?
My mom took me and a friend to see Stryper at Radio City Music Hall.
7.) How old were you when you got your first kiss?
Not exactly sure. Maybe 16 or 17.
8.) What was your first pet?
I had a goldfish growing up. This was when I was really young, between 5 and 10. It died the first night, so for the longest time my favorite color was orange.
9.) Chocolate or white milk?
White. Chocolate is an occasional treat.
10.) How do you deal with stress?
Not real well. I have a spot on my left index finger that is calloused because for over 20 years I will bite it there when I am stressed.
